At 31,000 miles, I have been told that my front rotors are warped and it's time to replace both the brake pads and rotors. I was planning to go with OEM rotors again and go aftermarket on pads. Do any of you guys have any suggestions on what pads to get? I've heard of Stoptech and Hawk but don't really have any idea what sets them apart and what's different about them. I will be mostly commuting and driving around town.

Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

It's a commonly asked question, suggest giving the forum search a try to get a complete answer versus whomever wants to rehash the same suggestion(s) for the 50th time [meaning, many members are not going to reply *again* and you'll be missing out on ideas].

There's a lot of useful info on the Stinger's brakes in general as well as replacement suggestions on the last few pages of this long thread on the subject: FAQ: Vibration under braking: warped rotors? NO!

^^^ This thread is also useful in possibly determining if the rotors are indeed needing replacement, or maybe just aftermarket pads are needed.

TL;DR of that (biblical) link: Rotors do not "warp", they get pad deposits and sometimes cementite (uneven hardness of the rotor surface). The OEM rotors are good. If you go out and rebed your brakes and they feel smooth(er) for awhile, then your pad deposits problem isn't developed enough to replace the rotors (and you don't have cementite). Rebed when you have new pads on hand, then immediately replace them and bed them. This works 99% of the time.

As for which pads: since you came up with the "shuttering" brake pedal, OEM pads are likely to do that to you again, so any of the aftermarket brands mentioned in that thread have their fans and critics: but the consensus is that any of them will work better to get smooth braking than the OEM pads.

They have worked really well for me. :D
That's because you drive like an old man.

[This could be interpreted as a compliment, but let's not conflate things and suggest that it was ;) ]

^^^I am a very fast old man.

But like Dan Gurney, I come from "the chicken shit school of braking."

Got it. Looking at either Hawk HPS 5.0 or Stoptech Performance.
I use hawk HPS 5.0 on the street. They have this thing where they chirp just a bit when rolling to a nice easy stop, just when the car stops moving. Does this more when it's cold, but just warning you. It's not a major deal or anything and I just ordered and received a new set as I'm upgrading rotors. They don't get too dusty either. Overall very happy with them. Also front and rear pads seem to be available as I got mine this week in 3 days...

EBC yellowStuff, haven’t heard a single negative comment about them yet. I have F/R sets ready to go if I can simply stop running into roadblocks on the powder coating of the Brembo calipers I picked up from EBay.

EBC yellow would be my choice if I wanted something with entry level tracking capability.

Tork Motorsports has stupid cheap prices on them, I actually think their pricing is a mistake BC they're $50 lower than EVERYONE else. I also see they raised the prices on the rears to what I would expect to pay. I got both F/R for about $120 ea.

Where did you order them from? I called a dealer to verify compatibility but haven't heard back. I probably won't mind the chirping but I am also looking at Stoptech to keep my options open.

Thanks.

I will look at it. Really looking for something for the street as I'm not tracking it but thank you for your suggestion.

EBC Yellows may be a bit aggressive and dusty for normal or even aggressive street driving.
KNS Brakes is the site I order my pads from. Order is actually shipped direct from a distributor, but the folks at KNS brakes are good people. Personal customer service and all. Plus you can put in Stinger 3.3L and see all the brake pads available. The pads in our cars are very common sizes, but not every site or manufacturer is specifically calling them out for the Stinger. Awesome, thank you so much for the link.
