Weighing on borla 2.25 inch vs the mbrp 2.5. looking for a deep growl and I read that the mbrp does some gurgling on downshifts which is nice. Can anyone kindly chime in on what the difference between a 2.25 and 2.5 are? Which would be louder when giving it a full go and quiet when you just want to drive "normal" thank you

I had the exhaust fitted today, and it sounds great! Not super loud, but enough to catch the attention of anyone nearby. The shop said it all fitted together well, but that they couldn't tighten the couplers enough to stop a bit of leaking, so they ended up welding them.

The round tips I bought were going to be so tight in the exhaust baffle that I decided not to use them. I was worried that they would put stress on the rear by loading up a lot of additional weight onto the rear bumper, and maybe create weird vibrations (which others have reported elsewhere). Considering the whole point of them is to stop unwanted noises, I ordered some new oval 105x75mm tips that should be a better fit.

In the meantime, there isn't any unpleasant drone. It does get a little louder than ideal at around 2k RPM under load, but when cruising it sounds about the same as OEM (I have the trunk lined with dynamat and an additional layer of acoustic absorber). When I floor it, it's super loud. I also noticed that I actually get quite a lot of gurgling and burbling when slowing down, which was an unexpected bonus. All in all, would recommend. It sounds great and the price is right. Coming from a beautifully made HKS in my last car, the quality of the welds in the MBRP are a little lacking, but I guess no-one is ever going to see them.

I believe the correct oval size for the stinger w/MBRP exhaust is 63X105. That's what I ordered and they fit perfectly. Also, it will get much quieter inside the cabin once the Tips are fitted. I absolutely love the choice I made compared to OEM exhaust.

105x75mm is the width and height of the outlet of the oval tips I ordered (same as factory size). The inlet size is 63mm (2.5 inches) for the MBRP.

Well, changing the tips will help minimize the drone in the rear cabin along with giving a better look in comparison to the stock tips. It's relatively cheap ($120~) and just got to give it time for it to arrive from Asia. I will be ordering my tips soon despite not planning to get the exhaust until after next April.

I ll add that this exhaust system doesnt come with tips... so you would have the mufflers tip barely reaching the fake exhaust tips of our car.
Clamping the Akrapovics (for e.g) tips to the mufflers helps reduce the drone by carrying the sound out rather than bouncing under the trunk.

there is no welding per se, it is a clamp on exhaust system, hence why they can do it cheaper.

Soooo I bought my SS MBRP from eBay last Friday (Birthday present from my hubby) and it should arrive within the week. I will update once it does arrive (delivery time, condition etc.) for others considering ordering from eBay. I bought from seller Midwest Aftermarket as they had pretty good ratings/feedback on eBay.

This morning I went ahead and bought exhaust tips from Aliexpress in size 63mm out 89mm. I LOVE the blue (Micro Blue Stinger) and the flat black to match my other flat black M&S Skirts. I hope it looks as good as I am envisioning in my head...

Anyone had issues with their aftermarket tips rotating over time? One of mine is always misaligned after about 2 weeks, looking for the best material to fill the gap.

I’ve not noticed any movement of my tips, but I used my Dewalt impact to tighten the clamps. I used an air impact to tighten the clamps for the exhaust. I don’t believe either are going to be easily moved.
