MBRP exhaust tip issue

Great advice. I just got my MBRP installed today at KHARTUNERZ. I live 1.5 hours away from the shop so had a good long ride to decide if the drone or any potential drone would bug me or not. Still testing. It’s louder than I expected it to be (in a good way).
That's awesome. Today was a big day for me too. I just got mine installed today as well. I was really nervous based on some of the comments about it being a little louder than stock. I think it is definitely way louder than stock, but not over the top. It definitely growls when you accelerate. I wish that I had been able to take a lengthy drive like you. Has a really nice deep note. So far I'm happy, but it will probably take me a week or so to see how I really feel. I love this forum, and I appreciate everyone giving me advice. Glad I waited to install tips. I might get some for cosmetic purposes or maybe powder coat the existing tips.

When I installed my MBRP with tips, wife didn’t even notice we had a new exhaust and I was surprised how quiet it was. I guess the tips really make a difference in cabin noise. Adding the ARK secondaries was the difference maker in sound for me.

MBRP really doesn’t drone much at all. I’ve had mine for 2 years. I tried tips for a couple of days and it made it so quiet inside, it sounded stock. Had to take them back off. It actually took away from the experience of driving the car not having any sound. If you want to hear your MBRP, I don’t recommend tips. If you want stock sound inside, but louder outside, then go for the tips.
I have heard that people don't like the drone, but I knew I was getting an MBRP for Xmas, so I ordered tips from AliExpress knowing that it might take a while, which it did, about 4 weeks to get them here.
Waiting for better weather to install all this.

I have the MBRP exhaust installed with and without the tips before. I highly recommend getting the tips to reduce the drone. Without the tips was a bit too loud for my liking

Has anyone with mbrp installed tips AFTER the exhaust? I'm looking to add tips without dropping muffler........did you guys remove the faux tips?

Yes. I did it without removing the mufflers. It was definitely challenging. Had to take the mufflers off of the hangars. When pulling down on the mufflers, it takes some serious force. I’d recommend another person to pull downward on the mufflers while you remove the stock tips.

Any thoughts on just cutting with a wheel the faux tip framing? 20220105_101300.webp

You could. But I wouldn’t. If you ever decide you want the stock tips back on (like I did 2 days later), they’re toast. And you might have a harder time doing that than trying to pull them out normally

Sad part is the shop that installed my system charged me 200 to put in yet threatened to charge MORE to put tips in ! claiming inability to move mufflers without welding.......yeah right

My shop actually had to recut and reweld the MBRP cat back tips, as they weren't completely straight.

I managed to pay just $200, and with the tips installed too.

why weld on tips? they clamp on

The tips are clamped, but the outer pipes on the catback itself was not straight.

So he had to cut and straighten them

Now I'm really pissed.......took getting my Stinger on short ramps for access and undo the hangers in the rear ; 4 screws per side , slip akrapovic tips on, tighten and done in 15 mins

Yet the muffler shop that installed my mbrp told me 2+ hrs of work and over 200 bucks for the work...... just horrible to try and rip someone off

Looks awesome. I have the exact same setup in boxes waiting for better weather for me to install. I will definitely do the tips as I install the MBRP.

I grabbed both (akrapovic n mbrp) on separate occasions so I was too excited and put on not expecting to find tips anytime soon....but all worth it ......NOW!

My muffler tips are all jacked up and not even at all. I considered getting them recut but I need to find a shop.
