Maximum Gas Mileage

Just did a road trip from Portland to Seattle and back. 92 octane.

Up was about 26.9 MPG in eco mode--with some city driving mixed in. 3-4 people in the car.

Back was pretty much all highway and I got 29.7 in eco. This was with 3 people in the car.

Was keeping it easy and not-so-spirited except when passing slow people, but cruised mostly at ~75mph.
As far as I’ve experienced, Eco doesn’t do much for highway speeds. It’s very helpful for city driving.

It drops your RPM about 200-300 and doesn't hold RPM as long between gears.

Say wha?

You can't drop RPM by about xxx rpm...

Not without adding additional gear ratios. There are just 8 gear ratios.

Like I said, on the highway it doesn’t seem to offer any benefit. At least when I’ve tried it.

It reduces the AC performance.
That's about all eco mode does

It enables coasting mode too.
That feature is year dependant...

not sure what year they introduced that, but it was after model year 2018.

Good to know, but for the most part I keep it in eco mode since I commute at least once each week, and roadtrips are rarer; it's easier for me that way. Plus, my Aunt and Dad were with me and I didn't want to give them a G-force adventure.

My car does have the coasting feature so that helps, plus it'll remain in eco rather than moving to comfort when powering on and off. Further I'm not in a really warm, muggy area of the country, so I'm okay with having the A/C not running full if I'm running it at all.

I usually switch to sport when I want to have fun, but that's not usually at 6:00am when there's still blood in my coffee stream and I'm heading to the daily grind. :).
