Maintenance costs: deal breaker? Talk me into or out of a Stinger

I just replaced the original tires on my 2018 AWD square setup after 4 years and 40k miles. Those were potenzas A/S. Switched to PS4 A/S for 900 bucks. Not too bad. We’ll see how they hold up. The car has wayyyyy more upsides than downsides so I would say pull the trigger. It’s a great car and I love it as much today as when I bought it over 4 years ago. Still get a ton of complements and people asking “What the hell is that?!?” Fun car..you won’t regret it. You’ll enjoy it a HELL of a lot more than driving a Santa Fe lol.
Thanks for the info. Wonder if its worth the cost of new wheels vs tire expense

Going on a year and half with my Conti's, still plenty of life left. A year for tires?

Your biggest issue with a KIA will be finding a competent service shop. You'll need to review the maintenance schedule in your manual so you know which work actually needs to be done and what they're trying to upsell you on.

My go to example was being quoted $140 to replace a "dirty" cabin air filter. I'd just cleaned it 2 weeks prior... It's also a $20 part that can be replaced in 5min with zero tools.

Your savings are mostly with up front car cost and part longevity after the warranty expires, which remains to be seen as even the oldest stingers are only 6? ys old. If you check the cost of parts, especially anything electrical, they're still quite pricey.

I'm very happy with my tire wear though with the stock Pilot Sport 4. 2 years, 25kkm and still plenty of tread. That's on a 3.3 AWD.

Another poster in this thread (and others in different threads) have mentioned 15k or less with AWD staggered wheel set ups.

that is with michelin pilot sport summer tires. continentals, by all reports, wear longer. michelin has the lowest treadlife rating anywhere. and staggered only gets half that in the rear. the lowest miles out of a set of rear michelin that I've read of on the forum was under 5,000. 'holy christmas' indeed. but he confessed to being an addict to burnouts.

I drive pretty conservatively most of the time. Guessing that's how ive stretched the life on the audi tires (as well as rotations)

I run a square setup for my 18 inch winters on after market rims, and the factory staggered size on my summer Potenzas.
I have almost 120k kms just changed my winters after 3 full seasons and im on my 3 rd set of rears and 2nd set of fronts.
I dont think that is crazy bad but worse than a non performance aspired car.....no car pushing 400 hp is going to be easy on tires but it isnt worse than any other car in its segment.
I have had 0 issues aside from the fuse box recall and normal maintenance...changed oil on schedule, transmission flush, both diffs fluid change and brake pads. I also installed a OCC to try to keep the intake from getting carboned up.

So maybe 30000 km per set of rears on all seasons?

Also, is the catch can easy to install? Im pretty handy in the garage.
Does it affect the factory warranty?

The OCC is really easy to install, I made a mounting bracket myself but I think most come with one.
Mine is a mishimoto knockoff like this one, OCC . I cant say if it effects warranty...mine was on when I did the recall and they didnt say anything, my pedal commander was on as well.
I had to do some work on my OCC to stop getting oil vapors from leaking as well, being a knockoff the o rings for the filling and dipstick were not good...I epoxied the fittings in the can and replaced the o ring in the dip stick and then it was fine.
You wont regret getting a stinger...unless it was an abused used one..then its a crap shoot.

Get the Mishimoto OCC, works great and super easy to install.

I have Michelin PS4 my rear lasted 15k but that’s because I was flooring it too much on turns.
My front are at 17k and I’ll maybe get 19-20k out of them.

Is that miles or KMs?

My 2020 awd Stinger gt base is by far the most reliable car in our stable. Bought it brand new, has 20k on it now. We own a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 33k, 2005 Buick Lacrosse with 58k and a 2001 Ford F-150 Svt Lightning that just hit 150k. Besides my horrible luck - blew a tire yesterday, getting shot at on the way to work and having 10k in hail damage. The car hasn't had any major mechanical repairs. I did have 1 rear backup sensor go bad.

The black chrome trim at the top of the doors and rear glass is known to have issues. My first set did, had mine replaced with the hail damage and the new set have held up quite nicely.

My car is a daily driver, it came with the Michelin primacy tour as tires that, up until yesterday were fine on tread but I also run a square 18" g70 wheel with blizzaks for winter so obviously my tread wear is less than most.

I'm sure Audi, Mercedes, BMW interior is nicer but after just recently selling a Mercedes because of the ridiculous maintenance costs, I personally would never own another one that didn't have a warranty. The Stinger will be much cheaper

So would the cheapest way to run a square set up on an AWD V6 be to buy 2 OEM rear wheels, 2 rear sized tires, and install them on the front with spacers?

Uh...

nobody would do that.

Zero people.

So aftermarket wheels all around?
I can tell you haven't priced kia wheels. Ridiculously pricey for 'boat anchors' they are. I haven't priced them since 2018, and one wheel was $630 then. the other thing is offset. the front wheel is 34 the rear 8.5 wide wheel is 47. I've not heard of anyone trying to fit a rear wheel in front. I don't think it can be done.
