LSD Should be Standard Across All Trims

I'm holding out for an aftermarket company to release one
Somebody posted a listing on the forum for an LSD gear set, and it wasn't overly expensive. Certainly would be a cheaper route than trading in a <= two year old car, but I'd make sure that everything will still play nice with the ECU's ideas on managing stability and wheel control ... :)

I have noticed that the limited edition yellow GTs have the limited slip in my area. So far this is the only non-GT2 car I have seen with the LSD.

The GT does have an option for LSD there is no option for the GT 1 and of course a GT 2 comes with it.

Ye, seen that. I wondering if all is really that "simple", just replace differential gears and no any electronic/ESP updates will be required etc. If somebody done that procedure and have any info — would be great to know.

Only KIA engineers will be able to confirm whether the software will automatically back-off due to the improved behaviour of the LSD (the stability control software should, since it's reaction to slippage based), or if changes are required to prevent the software from continuing to try to proactively brake-torque at the same rate when it will no longer be needed to the same extent. And AWD vs. RWD will likely be different behaviour as well.

The NON Limited GT's (excluding GT1) will have LSD as a stand alone option? I have read on here some rumors but nothing confirmed as far as I am aware.

I just had to buy a GT1 2018 model. FUCT!

So all of the US AWD models are not equipped with LSD, even the GTS it would seem.

The went with torque vectoring instead.

Looked into this on the website and it list this option as only being available on the GT with the Sunset Yellow Paint:

Stinger's mechanical Limited-Slip Differential (LSD (Limited Slip Differential)) evenly distributes power to the rear wheels under varying road conditions. LSD (Limited Slip Differential) enables more responsive and agile handling.

*Disclaimer
Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) only.

Limited-Slip Differential on Stinger GT requires Sunset Yellow Exterior Paint.

My Red 2018 RWD GT (Not 1 nor 2) has a limited slip diff. They exist, but the first model year had all sorts of oddities. My thought is they had supplier issues during production explaining why the LSD appears and disappears across models colors and trims.

The craziest thing is it was a $200 dollar option! Makes me think doubly so it was never really intended to be a feature, but a supply chain issue now that LSDs are standard..

As a side note... can we turn off the "LSD Limited Slip Differential" auto addition when you just write L S D, it makes paragraphs on the topic look ridiculous .

KIA does some strange things with the first few cars that come to the dealer. I had a hybrid that had a option package that was not on their site or in the brochure, others there had something different.

I’m more and more glad I got my 2020 GT. No sun roof rattle and a LSD. Had no clue the GT1 omitted that.

It seems odd the way they swap specs across markets. In UK there is no AWD, as won't work in RHD, but my GT Line Diesel has an LSD, as all UK spec cars have it as standard!

My 2019 GTS has the LSD. I am in the United States.

In the communication about 2021 Korean Facelift it is listed the M-LSD is now standard accross all trims. It is a very good move, hope this will be the case globally!

Many of us complained about this from Day 1. Should have always been standard, as it was on Genesis sister model. Reportedly it was a supply shortage that caused KIA to start off with the patchwork quilt of LSD inclusions. I suspect it was marketing trying to save a few bucks assuming most people wouldn't care or notice.
