I don't understand why KIA would not provide LSD as standard across all trim levels (let alone an option) for a RWD vehicle (or optional AWD).
Honestly this is kind of a safety concern in my books.

PS. This thread brought this to my attention and I felt that this should absolutely be included in the 'Open Letters to Kia Motors'.

it's especially odd that lsd is available for the gt, and gt2 but not the gt1. what do you think the reasoning is behind that?

I'd imagine the GT2 is considered the top of the line so they wanted to provide everything.

So why is it not an option for GT1 but is for the GT?
I think that they predicted that those who are interested in stripping the 3.3 V6 TT would buy the GT instead of the GT1 or the GT2.
So full track heads don't have to over spend in the costlier GT1 and still get the stronger engine.

Good point made, the lack of LSD in my 2.0T was a disappointment, I don't expect it to be standards but would happily pay for it as an optional extra.

Having said that, there is still traction control as standards - safety is still there, just not as fun going sideways.

Also, all BMWs also do not have LSD, only the M cars have LSD.

It's definitely an option that is worth the investment, had they had it.
Both braking individual wheel + adding power to the other wheel seems to be a better option for stability vs braking only one wheel.
But that's just me.

I also think that KIA missed an opportunity to mock all the other brands by adding the LSD in their car.
Honestly it shouldn't be expensive since they already made one and it would streamline production that much more.

Totally with you here. Don't get why they don't make it standards on all cars - shouldn't be that much more expensive. I'd tick the LSD optional extra box in a heartbeat.

I agree. We can probably blame it on the bean counters...

Looked into this on the website and it list this option as only being available on the GT with the Sunset Yellow Paint:

Stinger's mechanical Limited-Slip Differential (LSD) evenly distributes power to the rear wheels under varying road conditions. LSD enables more responsive and agile handling.

*Disclaimer
Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) only.

Limited-Slip Differential on Stinger GT requires Sunset Yellow Exterior Paint.

It's standard on the AWD G70. No even an option yet for Stinger, though it is being tested in the field. I don't want the car (AWD) without it, so may have to wait until the 2019's unless Kia introduces a mid-year update/change to production.

there's a company called quaife that makes LSDs for all BMW models. hope they will make one for the stinger.
You can buy the LSD in for the Stinger and get it installed at a shop. It will cost you no more than 1 thousand bucks.

Are you sure for the AWD? the G70 here only has an LSD on the RWD model.

Same issue as Stinger here. It's all local market marketing choices by Kia...and bad ones at that. In Canada, Stinger and G70 come only in AWD and the Stinger has no LSD available and the G70 all have LSD as standard.

It would not surprise me if it turned out to be an error of communication from the hyundai guys and that the "LSD is standard" is only for the RWD model, because the LSD is actually standard on the G70 RWD here, but you get either AWD or RWD with an LSD.
So we have not seen LSD and AWD being put together on this platform yet.
But if it is true, maybe they plan on adding it to the 2019 MY for AWD Stingers too.

LSD is not made in house the problem being supply and demand as soon as the manufacture can ramp it up they will have LSD offered in all stinger models .

As I just said, there are different combinations of options in different markets. Canadian G70's with the otherwise same drive train as the Stinger (3.3TT and AWD) have the LSD as mandatory/standard equipment. So "we" have seen it put together on this platform.

Source? (So we can find out dates) And are you/they referring to the crazy no LSD in RWD GT1 cars in the US, or ALL Stingers?

The way he stated it in the video sounds like all stingers. But then again I'm sure that the genesis G 70 LSD will come from the same manufacture so I'm sure right now it's all about supply . The manufacture is called GKN automotive , and there somewhere in England .
