Lowered springs, different heights

Ya I'm at the shop right now... They seem to not think that the recent alignment they did could cause this..yet it never jumped around until the last month.. they're gonna visually see if the spring is set.. I think one spring is high which has been messing with my alignment every since and they messed with the rear toe causing the jumpiness... Yet they kind of give me the run around when I tell em this
Hopefully they get you set right. They should listen to you on what the car is doing, you drive it daily. On the other hand all the shop is going to do is say "its with in specs so not our fault". And the spring may look in place correctly but if the bottom is not set in the rubber "guide" on the control arm it will raise it up. There is a certain spot to where the end of the coil must sit to keep it flat. Top rubber bushing is the same way. Needs to be twisted in to the coil to the built in stop .

Thank you very much for that info.. shop is great, he worked on it for 2 hours and didn't charge me... He thinks it's the actual shock as when he took it off the lift it was even higher then slowly settled, so then I went to my awesome dealership... They could care less about all my mods and got quoted on a new shock under warranty... I will contact the other shop and give them that piece of information tho

Glad you got it sorted out. Hopefully the dealer cost isn't too bad. Unfortunately i cant even recommended and aftermarket I haven't done any research into them.

I might have one of the best dealers out there... Service manager installed my aftermarket subframe bolts for free 6 months... About the shock he told me that of the part comes to over $800 , kia wants a picture.. as he knows I have springs etc... Checked on the factory shock and it comes out to $ 786

I still have a hard time believing the shock is bad... If after I get a warranty replacement on the shock the only thing left would be the actual spring being a different height somehow, or it's not twisted In and seated completely.. I think the jump around in the rear is something to do with the toe... Anyone out there ever had Ark springs with different heights, this shit driving me nuts

I just threw away my factory shocks from my 22 when I installed coilovers
One of the front struts was leaking oil after only 20,000 mi due to the lowering springs, I didn't notice till I was installing the coilovers, but the rear shocks were fine

All of this has anybody looked at the spring pocket yet to make sure it's seated correctly. You can just take the tire off and a flashlight and see that

He claimed he looked today when he was under it, never took the wheel off tho... I may have to do this myself... Is it easy to tell?

@socalvn thats what i was wondering too.
@Schroedes its easy to see. And like i mentioned earlier today you can see the spring seats. Id check jjst because

So the springs actually twist into the seats?
Yes that's the best way to describe it. A spiral incline in the rubber seat attached to the control arm. Let me check i may have one for pics

2 pics are from the thread i shared with you. Others are mine out of the car. Hopefully this helps

I looked up in there and both springs look to be butted against that rubber stopper... Tech is convinced I have a bad strut but idk if I believe that, I would think it would exhibit other symptoms

From my past experiences, yes it should collapse instead of stay "up", if it was bad. But it could be bent or stuck internally so who knows. Hope you get it sorted out.

I'll get the new shock put in and let ya know... I really don't think the spring is the issue.. Ark has good quality control I would think

I had the chucking issue on the rear of my Stinger. Seems common on lowering springs. I asked a shop to align to factory settings, which got rid of like 80% of the issue. I also felt that maybe, just maybe, I had a bad shock. But these things are $$$ so I wanted to try other routes first. When I read other people experiencing the issue, I decided to relax.

I got the alignment dang as close to factory as she would get, and then drove 2500 miles. I only noticed the rear end "shimmy" like twice on the entire trip. Not bad!

I did chuck ATQ bolts at the damn car trying to firm it up. While they didn't resolve the problem, it did make it a whole lot better.

Having one corner .58" taller than the others would bug the shit out of me. Definitely vested to see how the strut replacement goes!

Dealership is gonna throw a new shock in under warranty to see if that helps, then I will try another alignment... I think the recent alignment did it ,but that doesn't explain the different. Could very well be shock.. getting it installed next Friday than I will update

Update... Well the dealership didn't think the strut was bad and that the weird shimmy in the rear was the shitty alignment...specs from the previous shop were out of whack.. so they aligned it and it helps the problem, yet I still feel the kind of weird side to side motion on bumps and I still have the drivers rear side 3/4 of a inch higher!! I saw a post on here, a guy had the same problem, and after replacing the spring in the rear it was still there until he realized his frame mounts for his rear eibach sway bars were out of whack... I have eibach sway in the rear???? Don't know how that would affect height in that corner, but it could explain the weird side to side motion?? Not sure where to go from here

Your sway bar should have zero preload on the endlinks and not affect your side to side your talk about the 3/4 difference in height is the issue the car is not sitting square or level on all corners
