So I installed the Injen Intakes last night, and when I went to start it, there was a lot of noise coming from the engine bay. It sounded like the ventilation (A/C) system blowing air on max power, but it wasn't on the inside of the car. It stopped and settled after a few seconds, though.

And when I went to start the car this morning, it exhibited the same noise, but it wasn't as loud and it went away after a few seconds.

The temperature last night when I started was around 30 degrees Fahrenheit and this morning was around 20 degrees Fahrenheit.

So my question is: is this normal? The manual called for unplugging the battery in the trunk before installation so maybe the computer reset and/or the ECU is just trying to adjust to the new intake? Or is it normal behavior on cold starts?

My AP intakes do the same thing, I think it’s just usually muffled by the closed stock air boxes.
That could be! I did notice that the stock boxes were heavier than I expected and the plastic enclosure was relatively thick. Thanks for the input! It makes me feel a bit better. I was really scared when it first happened; thinking I fudged the installation.

Cold starts spin up the turbo's, I believe it's to draw oil into them and force the EGT to increase faster.

There is a reason, but it's normal. My favorite part in the morning is listening to the turbo's on a cold start

Thanks! Definitely makes me feel better about it!

Sounds normal to me! I would say triple check your connection to the turbo itself to make sure it’s a proper seal and it’s not pulling in air directly....but you’re probably fine.

100% normal

Totally normal. Like @Callum mentioned, during cold starts the engine pulls in more air than regular idling to warm up the catalytic converters quickly. The turbos even spool a tiny bit when doing this, thus the loud "sucking" noise.

You can't heart it nearly as much with the stock airboxes as they're mostly sealed, which muffles pretty much all induction noises. Now that you've got a much freer flowing intake, you can hear all the fun noises.

Enjoy the increase in power.

Normal! got AP Intakes here.

Thanks for all the information and reassurance guys! I really appreciate it! Loving the intakes so far and the "pssshhh" sound!

You could also be hearing the secondary airpump. It turns on when car is cold. It’s a electric pump that helps heat up the cats. If you start the car and blip the throttle right away it turns off.

What about slight popping noises with the sucking noises and then going away same time as sucking noises? Sounds like it’s coming from my K&N Typhoon intakes.
