Lease vs Finance Discussion

Yes to both. Right now it's almost impossible to get a price below MSRP. That is ridiculously crazy to pay. I just picked up a new Jeep compass for over 18% off MSRP. In 6-8 months you should be able to get at least 10% off MSRP off the stinger. I also don't see that MF staying as high as it is.

They're are some dealers already selling 2k below MSRP here. With the lease cash (and the intent to buy out the lease in a few weeks) I don't know if I gain anything by waiting. I am going to wait though because it would bother me to overpay.

The Stinger was on the floor by the entrance, the showroom was empty except for a few customers but the ones who wandered through the door were magnetically attracted to it, sitting inside, taking pics, studying it as if there was a later exam. I was negotiating while they were climbing all over it, just turned 64, have had lots of cars over the years but have to admit it’s still a thrill when they put the “sold” sign in the window with your name on it and lock the doors leaving blank looks on the faces surrounding the car.

i'm surprised you couldn't get 100% off a jeep compass. who wants a jeep compass? the stinger is a car that's turning the auto industry upside down. it's not going to be as easy to get a good deal on a stinger as it is a compass. ever.

My 16 year old wanted a compass. You act like the stinger is some revolutionary car. I've got news for you it's not.Turning the auto industry upside down? Haha, how? You're drinking the kool-aid man.. Is it a nice car for the price? Yep. It is not some classic car that's going to be a collector car. It's just another car. There are plenty of cars that are in higher demand where you can get a deal.

Wait a minute. Are you saying you just bought your Stinger?

no doubt you could get 8-10% off msrp in california if you haggle and/or travel. there are plenty available that have been sitting for a month+

i'm talking about a purchase

Picking up my GT2 on Sunday, paid $649 times 36 with no $ down. Is it cheap? No way, but with dealers charging markups I feel comfortable I got a good deal at this time, and my Cadenza is due back on the 24th, anyway. So much for my 4-banger, eh?

Am I wrong, or will Kia at some point come out with a Corporate lease program, where it's $2,999 down, $399 a month for 3 months?... Something like this? Right now, everyone seems to be in pretty steep lease payments until Kia Financial brings out an aggressive program?...

They already have that for the base 2.0T

$649 lease is pretty good (well, not good in the grand scheme of the auto industry, but good for a Stinger at the moment). Mine was $629 after $2k down, so you must have gotten a decent amount off MSRP for yours?

Supply and demand, if everybody and their mother decides they need a Stinger the lease rates will chill, if the units on the dealer lots start to rise favorable rates will follow. If you don’t need one now I’m confident you’ll get a better deal by waiting, my 2 cents.

Well congratulations! I was entirely convinced you were getting the 2.0T! Hah. I should have known... :p

Wifey talked me into it, I can afford it but don’t think top of the line, it’s not my style but the car looks so freaking good I figured what the hell. We saw a Korean version of the GT there (red on red) two weeks ago and it blew my doors off, when I saw the first GT to come in was a 2 in red it made me reconsider. I’ve had my eye on the Stinger for a year and was hoping it would be available when my Cadenza went back, it all worked out fine in the end.

Stingers just aren’t leasing well right now. I was quoted at $650 OTD with $0 down for a GT2, but rolling the rest of my forte lease into it pushed it into the $700+ range. Residual values are hurting the Stinger as well, but that should rise over time given the press, popularity and reliability of this car. It needs to get to 52% or more to make it worthwhile.

If that happens, and production ramps to meet demand, and Kia if gets their shit together with their money factor, then we’ll be in business. If/when the MF comes down to something reasonable (.0005 or something like you can get on Optimas), these will be hackable (1% of sticker/month or less for a OTD lease with $0 down), but until then, people will have to be comfortable overpaying for something they really want (there could be worse things).

Well you don't hear that every day! I'm glad she did (talk you into it). It's nice to have top of the line. Isn't it? Even if it's not your style...

MF on a 2018 Optima lease right now is around .00193. So not much difference.
