For two months, I have been trying to lease a new stinger gt-line. Either rwd or awd. The lease incentive states $320/month for 36 months with $4000 down. Dealerships, at least in CT, or asking for almost twice that. I'm not being hyperbolic. They are asking for more than $600/month with more like $6500 down. And it is not easy to get that info. Many of them won't even tell you what you will pay until you come in for a test drive.

Those kinds of lease deals are typically limited to a very specific model. Beyond that you are at the dealer's mercy unfortunately

I was talking to a dealer in Florida about picking up a new one when the lease on my 2018 Premium ends. The 2018 is under miles and has a ton of equity and the Sales Manager came over and said that either way you are looking at a minimum of mid $600's a month. He had 9 new 2022 Stingers on the lot and a couple of used ones.

When we leased the 2018 on Black Friday we got $6,500 lease cash plus a dealer discount and a crazy trade in amount on a dead 100k miles 2012 Optima hybrid. Walked out at $340.05 a month for 36 months with 12k miles a year. Never had to reach into my wallet except for my driver's license.

Also, the numbers you get from the Kia website don't take into account the CT sales tax that's normally part of the lease payment. Recently priced a GT-2 on the site, and the numbers from site are lower than the actual ones from dealership, because of the taxes.

Dealers tend to stay ignorant of company incentives, on the chance that they can keep the difference. You gotta bring in the fine print/read it to them/show them often. Make sure it applies, but if it does, they should honor it.

That makes me cringe when they say even with a substantial amount of equity you are still mid 600s.

I would be telling that guy to drop the payment talk and write down some numbers to make sure the math works appropriately.

I realize that. The lease special is for the gtline rwd or awd. I have spoken with half a dozen dealerships that sell the gt-line with no added bells or whistles. None of them will honor the lease incentive. I even called the national kia customer support number, where they told me it is up to the dealerships if they want to honor the lease incentive. Really? Wtf is the point of having these offers listed on the kia site?(excuse my abbreviated bad language)

I understand the bit about sales tax, additional dealership fees, doc fees, reg fees etc. That can all be accounted for. I'm not talking about the extra 60 or 70 bucks per month that we all have to pay per month on a lease because of those fees. I'm talking about massive difference between the advertised offer on the kia site and what dealerships are asking for their leases.

That is a mess. I never knew that lease incentives were "optional". So much jerking around right now to maximize profits is going to bite the industry hard at some point.

How can a company that builds such an exceptional vehicle be so tone deaf to what is going on in their name? Every time I speak with one of these "sales managers" on the phone, I just feel more and more infuriated with this process. They refuse to answer direct questions and tell you we will get sorted out when you come in. And I get the situation that the car industry is in right now. There aren't too many cars to go around. But what I don't understand is why KIA allows this go on unabated. If you have a pet rattlesnake, you don't just let it wander around your home to sink it's fangs into whoever happen to cross it's path.

I am a Kia Dealer. On a 2022 Stinger GT Line AWD there is $1800 lease cash right now. A little over a year ago is was almost $10000. The issue with advertised leases is they typically are a base model, and don't include use tax or the Kia Acquisition fee (tax adds $38m approx). If they are hitting you with 6 grand down, ask to see a lease worksheet. In this market every dealer in my area is selling 3-5k over sticker. I am not. Ask them, what is the lease selling price? What addendum items are added into the lease (some dealers roll in wheel tire and paint protection, key repl etc).

As an employee I was at $600ish zero down on a Stinger GT Line AWD $40000 MSRP to give an idea 10k miles yr (invoice pricing)

They aren't leasing well right now.

You need to know,

What the lease selling price is,
What the money factor is,
The mileage
What dealer extras are itemized in the lease

If you need help let me know

metalrocker-
I appreciate your frankness and I do have some understanding of the difficult situation that dealers are in. However, the lease incentives that kiausa are posting on their site is essentially a bait and switch. A person like myself(with top tier credit btw) sees 4k down $320/month special 350/month AWD and is lead to believe that he can afford a car like a stinger gt-line. After speaking with sale managers at more than a dozen kia dealerships, I can say without exception, none of them come anywhere close to the advertised deal on the same exact build. The closest a dealer has come to that deal has been $498/month with 4000 down.

So, i guess my question is, why does kia post these specials front and center on their website if the dealers couldn’t realistically sell cars at those prices. It’s borderline cruel to let people think they can afford to get behind the wheel of a stinger, only to find out that they don’t have a chance. Not unless they want to live in their car.

It would be encouraging to find out their are kia dealers selling at msrp. Maybe you could tell us which dealership you represent so we can verify that.

The advertised leases don't include taxes ($35-40 month), the AQ fee, the doc fee etc. Add $40-$60 to any advertised lease. The advertised money down doesn't include the taxes and fees, so add another $1000 in fees (doc fee and acquisition fee) and add taxes if you don't want them in the payment (around $1500 where I am) Dealers can't "hold back" lease cash they have to give it. They CAN raise the vehicle selling price but that's about it.

I've long since bought a Camaro, but I think about the stinger every now and then. I wish I could have made it work. I just wasn't willing to go $150 a month over the advertised lease + plus a much more substantial down payment than advertised. The experience of buying a car in 2021 was aged me by at least two years.
