Lap3 vs Lozic ECU tune

@SoulJacker I am also in California and yes the smogging of vehicles is Terrible out here. The temps/cooling on the Stinger are pretty good already in my opinion UNLESS you are gonna really tune your car excessively I think you should be OK. But it's all about preference. It can't hurt to upgrade your system. But for sure the intakes can be changed out with drop in filters or Cold Air Intake/ Hot Air intake. Lol I say hot because a lot of the intakes for Stinger ARE NOT true CAI

Where you located in Cali
I'm in Da Bay
Socal my friend, that's good information to know. A tech once told me he only goes OEM for non 12V related mods like stereo, speakers, lights, etc. His reasoning was because engineers designed and tested their vehicles using the parts that came out of the factory. Things like suspension geometry, performance, emissions, safety, etc were taken into consideration during the R&D of the vehicle. Ever since that day I've been more in tune with using oem replacements parts and yes there are definitely better replacements for certain things. Now with that said, the only CAI I was really interested in was from aFe which isn't legal to have in CA lol. I don't see any harm in adding an exhaust system too. I've read people having issues with changing piping closer to the the exhaust manifold/turbos like primary cats, primary down pipes, secondary down pipes etc. My knowledge on these topics are fairly new to me though and I'm learning more everyday.

I ordered the AFE CAI and if you like I’ll give you the info where I purchased them. They are on back order so it takes about 30 days before they are shipped out. It’s been 3 weeks since I ordered so hopefully they will be shipping soon. I have AEM drop in filters for now until my CAI arrives. I also changed my exhaust first week I got my Stinger. I went with the Thermal RD exhaust. I still have my Cats so I can pass smog. Car sounds 100% better and stronger. I like that the Thermal RD is a deep tone and not raspy or overly annoying like a lot of other exhausts I’ve heard. It’s more of a muscle car sound in my opinion but quiet until you open it up. Which is what I like. I am going to keep my OEM intakes for smog purposes so in 2 years when it’s time for smog I will put those back on. I may attempt the smog with my CAI on and if it doesn’t pass then I’ll put the old intakes on. I have family is So Cal. Very nice out there.

Email me: Tonybonez88@icloud.com
And I will shoot you my info in case you have any questions about intake/exhaust/tune

A lot of good ppl on this forum that are waaaaay more knowledgeable than me when it comes to the Stinger. But sometimes it’s a waiting game to get a response about questions you may have. Hit me up and if I have the answer I will gladly share.

Can’t pass visual with your cai in CA. Need also carb #

I wasn’t aware of the can’t pass Visual Inspection for smog in Ca. Thanks for the info. But doesn’t the OEM intake look fairly similar to the AFE intakes minus the clear sight window? So how would a smog shop fail you simply by a visual if the AFE intake looks the same as my OEM.
Just wondering but I trust your knowledge of the smog scenario.

I thought there was a CAI, maybe K&N, that had CARB approval.

Only 2.0T is carb approved.

Yup CA as well. That’s why I just did the drop in filter. I just want my under the hood looks “stock” as possible.

Yea….I think the AFE intakes still look pretty stock but i know what you mean about not wanting to chance it at the smog shop. I know a few ppl that work at smog places and as long as you got a coo relationship with them you will pass for sure. I’m in the bay if you need any smog references hit me up. I been driving/smogging a lot of muscle cars for years out here and I haven’t ever ran into a problem. But I usually go to the same guys every couple years

You in the Oakland/Frisco area?

That’s cool. Martinez/Hercules area.

That’s coo I’m in that area as well.
Not too many Stingers out this way

Yea CA laws on modding your vehicles are terrible lol. That's also why I like the aFe intake because it looks stock for the most part lol.

Yea I think it should be easy to pass with it installed. But there is always a chance it may not. I’m not too worried about it either way. If need be I’ll just throw the OEM intakes back on. They only charge you once to smog and they will retest you again for free if you don’t pass the first time. I know some good smog places they will pass it

Yea I’m not 100% sure but I will try and find out if so I will pass along the info. Are u in Cali as well? The smogging
I am in Cali, but I am in a county that doesn't require smog checks (yet, knock on wood).

Yea I also heard that. I called Mishimoto for a OCC carb sticker haven’t heard back from them yet. I’m sure AFE intakes don’t have sticker or come with it seeing as it’s not California Legal
