LAP3 Review for 2.0

As I primarily fill up at Costco, I'm using 92 octane. Since there is no 92 setting, which setting would be advisable, 91 or 93 setting?

I have a 2.0t, and love it. Where do you get the LAP3 chip?

Caution: The plug on the engine has some wires that dangle close to the belt. I didn’t realize this until my car started shaking and the RPMs didn’t work. I thought this was the end for the LAP3. I found out that the wire was rubbing up against the belt and causing this chain reaction to happen. Make sure that you zip tie everything tightly and securely so you won’t have the “Oh snap there is only 900 miles on this car and I broke it” moment.

Another word of caution, my car evidenced the same hesitation before I cooked a plug and ignition coil. As others have said, make sure to also install the upgraded race plugs.

Ouch that doesnt sound good, care to share a picture for those visually minded. Something for people to look out for!

Hey, has any 2.0 owner running a Lap3 chip (or any chip, for that matter) experienced any of the plug/coil issues reported by GT owners? And if using one, are you also using upgraded plugs? What kind, if any? Any info would be greatly appreciated! :)

Rufus, fwiw, the LAP3 has been used extensively on the 2.0t Optimas/Hyundais. My understanding is the engines are virtually identical. You may be able to find a wealth of information on their forums.

Any updates on this?

Can anyone please tell me the gains on the 2.0 with this chip installed? torque and HP. Thanks

No members on this forum with a 2.0 have publicized any dyno-proven before/after gains using a chip so far, I'm afraid. You should be able to find a few reviews for it on here, but no hard numbers beyond what's quoted by the mfrs. :)

UPDATE: I’ve since regapped the plugs to .27. The car is more responsive. I guess every website saying “gap a small, high boost engine spark plug small” was right. I was wrong. Everything so far feels great and I feel much more comfortable driving the vehicle. Still on setting 666 running 93 octane.

Hi all, my question is similar to Marty17s inquiry, when I put LAP3 in my Stinger will it void my KIA warranty ? Also the remote start is huge for me (2.0 Premium Stinger) but my car doesn't have it, I can add it of course and more than likely will go ahead and do that. Any tips on the best option or a remote start kit that will not affect my warranty ? TIA <3
