Lap3 ECU tune

Shit! that is moving! Welcome to the club. WIsh i would have done it from the start cause it is night and day different.

First impression LAP3 ECU, 2.5 with CPI

Upon the LAP3 box arriving I immediately began pulling out the old ECU along with it's bracket. It is a very simple job with a 10mm socket and some extensions. Once I had the LAP3 2.5 ECU installed I stepped inside the car in order to turn it on. I had to start it up about 4 times before it finally came to life. The smell of the built up fuel was horrible. I took it for a drive to my local E85 gas station in order to fill up with a E50 mix. I drove around for 20 mins or so in order to let the ECU do some learning and adaptations. When I 1st went WOT the car picked up immediately and with a surge in power, I was very impressed. I had a couple of hickups in terms of the correct settings for CPI in the JB4 but once I got those straitened out everything worked flawlessly.

-The shifts driving around normally are very smooth and now the throttle seems very linear in comfort.
-The extra timing makes the top end of the car at 6k RPM come alive.
-Torque seems to come on faster right at the beginning and stays smooth.
-In manual I even get some pops in comfort when downshifting.
-I ran some logs on the JB4 and AFR is buttery smooth, along with boost and timing.
-No problem at all with HPFP, stayed at 10-11 even while running E50 which the most I was able to do on jb4 was E45.
-On JB4 my most aggressive Map6 would only be useful if I wanted to really go fast but it wasn't practical for daily driving because of the hpfp crashes on E45.
-looking forward to trying out even higher ethanol mixes to see how far it'll go.

Previously I was on JB4 with CPI matches with a Lozic TCU. My best 60-130 jb4 run on map6 on E45 was a 9.27. Now with the LAP3 2.5 tune I was able to run a 60-130 in 8.40 seconds. This is with full interior and OEM wheels. I was never able to even brake into the 8s with just the JB4.

Now to review the extras. The disabled ISG (Idle Stop and Go) (Idle Stop and Go) is very nice and allows me to forget about pressing that darn button every time I turn the car on. I chose to have the pops set up for sport mode only and with my current X-Force exhaust set up and OEM primary cats I think they sound good and aren't too loud. So far the logs look very clean and I am more than pleased with the regular drivability and performance that this tune provides.

For whoever wants the best ECU tune on the market for our platform look no further you've found it.

Wanted to thank David Chung for the quick communication and answering all my questions. Also big thanks to Charlie @Cashby31 for helping me set up the correct CPI settings in the JB4.

did you go back to normal spark plug gaps?

LAP3 2.5 GUYS

What E blend can you drive if not using CPI or Meth before HPFP give up?
With JB4 i did E30 and it was just about to work. I have seen posts here with LAP3 ECU that mentioned E40 and E50 but I dont know if they mean with CPI or meth add.
I have meth from JB4 starting at 15 psi with E30 now and it works good. Also works good wo meth but... would be better if it will work With higher etanol blend like E40-50.

I don't have the meth installed yet, I do not have CPI so right now I put 4.5 gallons of e85 and fill the rest with 93 octane tier one gas. No issues except it will pull timing to adjust with no cut out.

I installed the new HKS spark plugs and the car felt much smoother. Still very impressed with the tune and the consistency.

Anyone with a lap3 tune that can and willing to share a log? im curious to see how it compares to lozics tune.

Lap3 Stage 2.5 ECU and Stage 2 TCU review updates.

After 2 months of recovering from surgery, I took the car out for some testing. Set the Dragy record for #1 1/4 mile time at 10.93. Also improved my 0-60, 60-130 and 0-130 times.

Two days later, I took the car to the track to see if the dragy was correct.

I had multiple 10.9x slips with the best being 10.958, taking the spot as the #1 AWD stinger.

What’s interesting is that if you look at the quickest cars, I’m the fastest daily driver stinger that has not experienced a major issue after hitting a 10 second run nor am I a shop car or a sponsored driver. Just a normal guy that knows little of tuning, slapped in the ECU, TCU and WMI and pressed the gas!

If you are looking for a reliable tune that you can install and not need to worry about overboosting, new revisions, or blowing your head gasket, this is the tuning solution for you!22597CB1-C51A-4C17-BDF2-687913C6ABF5.webp1FFC0657-7974-4FD0-B2D2-ED42CA610673.webp3048D9B4-6E7B-4255-BBE5-72637D783700.webp729C9DAA-7587-4906-A2A3-A10FABB88F8D.webp

Salute my boy

It’s Turbo Season again friends! Been unable to get out there and get any runs in since August but did a quick two runs to test her out again Monday evening and seems like once I get my shifting rhythm back should be seeing low 11.0’s and break into 10 finally.

And the LAP3 stage 2.5 ecu, stage 2 TCU and their DevilsOwn Stage 4 Meth Kit are kicking ass and reliable as always.

Zero issues with the car since getting the tune other then when some jerk slid into me and i had to replace a panel last winter and adjust my meth due from the accident (Which was super easy and I did all of it myself and all I know about cars is what I learn working on my stinger mods- the LAP3 community is super helpful answering questions and helping out).

Thanks again for all the help David! LAP3 worth every penny and them some for the enjoyment I’ve had with this car and tune. C26D9EA9-2006-4E13-B1A4-1A8F85C4D242.webp498EB986-A796-4984-AC42-5071DAB0645D.webp

Seems like most people are running meth set up. I plan on just the stage 1 as we only have 91 octane available here . Don’t really feel like buying a device to log but can do so . Would like to hear some results from 91 or 93 octane mostly stock set up . I have been told the ECU has no problem adjusting the timing just like the cars stock ecu . Planning on a stage 1 ECU and a trans tune and that’s about it . Plugs of course.

These numbers are great, was looking into lap3 for my tcu + ecu + wmi for my stinger down the line. I know you already said you didn't have much issues but how long have you had this set up for? Also theres not a single pump with e85 near me so I'd be running wmi only, do you run e85? Thanks man

Sadly WMI is the only way due to E not being available near me. Getting my WMI kit straightened out Wednesday!!

Guys, what do you think would be the smarter option if you don't want to mess with E or WMI and mostly have 91-93 octane available, but you want to go faster - JB4 or Lap3 1.5-2?

I asked the same question. All that seem to be on here are meth guys . I would like some info on guys that haven’t gone chasing the 10 second quarter mile . People running 91 octane especially. Doesn’t seem to be many that have spent the money without the plans of having a 500 hp car.

Get an ECU tune with a bluetooth OBD scanner with Car Scanner Pro for logging.

I have only 91 octane . I have asked across most of the forums and tried to find info if the gains would be worth it . A few have said one way or the other but not a lot of 91 octane guys have responded. Which usually means the gains were not there. Seems 93 and up with most people running meth. My car runs 12.7 to 12.8 bone stock. My guess at best on 91 octane would be 12.5 and all the risk associated with warranty and repairs 3 tenths isn’t worth it . I could be wrong but there are no videos or times from 91 octane out there. Usually that’s the proof .

In my personal opinion if you are not trying to be the fastest and would want a bump in base power the jb4 is it and the best bang for your buck. I was on the stage 1.5 lap3 ecu tune but ran into some problems. Not sure if they were tune related as my car had problems prior to the tune. If I could do it all over again I would have just went with the jb4 from the jump. Again not trying to be the fastest but just want a bump in power at least for me over 400 whp and that’s doable with the jb4.
