KIAs Theft Magnets

As a mechanic I can tell you any car is easy to steal its the stupid tiktok and YouTube telling kids how to steal kias inform better yourself
I think I'm pretty informed ;) I literally take in 20-30 of these cars a day with the rear window broken (usually passenger side) and the column destroyed.

I would say first off Kia shouldn't be making their cars so easy to steal.
Yes - why did they do this, and why only in the USA?

The immobilizer works well in every other country.... Wonder what the cost per vehicle was, that Kia saved by not including the immobilizer in just 1 country.

The bean counters said make it so...Engineers complied.

Maybe it was to offset all the other (useless) safety crap these cars come with?

The dealer lot was full of these when I came in to get my oil changed. Said they had something like fifty stolens there to get repaired.

This isn't true, the issue is specific to a design flaw (corner cutting) by Kia on their cheaper model cars.

Later in this video Jeremiah explains why / how this occurs without giving it all away/contributing further to the issue, and how Kia's design leads directly to the ease in which the thefts occur. Inform yourself.

I remember when these first started coming in stolen, which was wayyyy before the TikTok thing started. It was like back in the day when we'd see a bunch of Civics, Integras stolen, then the flood gates opened presumably after the Kia boys started posting about it. The most I counted in one 24hr period was 83 cars. Was crazy at the time. Especially for cars that weren't chopped up, they were all intact except the window and column cuz kids were joy riding in them.

How about some serious fines for the young dorks who are joy riding? Don

^^A year's worth of community service cleaning out the toilets in public parks.

The douche in the video in post #25 won't be laughing so much when it's his car that gets molested and stolen.

The problem is that some of these kids are literally out here killing people. One car I took in myself, an older lady was driving, she had a cane on the front driver side. Turns out some kids stole a Kia Sportage I think it was, blasted right into her, the cane must've went through her from the force of the impact. Cane was all nasty, coated in blood. If it was my family member who died, I'd need them kids to pay for that and I don't mean with a slap on the wrist fine. Hell, I don't know that lady at all but it still pisses me off.

Totally agree, I was speaking to a relatively minor issue, repair the car plus a significant fine.

Serious bodily injury, serious prison time. Hell with these Soros funded DAs who let violent criminals out with no bail, released and recidivate almost immediately. Don

They don't catch most of them, usually the cars just end up abandoned. But in the cases where they get caught and especially when there's property or bodily harm, throwing the book at them and making examples out of them might be the only way to discourage. Porch piracy (package theft) is a similarly 'benign' crime that's slipping through the judicial system's cracks. As society grows larger it's tough (impossible?) to have law enforcement everywhere at all times. Not a democrat/republican issue, it's more an urban/rural issue whereas the more people there are the easier to 'slip through the cracks' and 'get lost in the crowd'.

You sound like a politician.

I'm educated and generally understand how things work (versus just guessing/making shit up). Is that actually what you mean? Or is this just a butt sore post for my prior reply correcting your misinformation?

And we can add catalytic converter thefts to the recent rash of widespread high impact, low level thefts.

Yeah still not sure what you mean. I guess I need to sound stupidier for you to like me. :( I'll try to post more incorrect information and use simple words to redeem myself for you.

Yup. Frivolous claims don't get challenged enough, too. Which becomes a self-perpetuating/feedback loop of bad litigation.

don't live in wi if you own a hyundai/kia car LOL
