I'm not sure if im starting this thread in the right subject but i was looking for some advice about the kia warranty.

I just purchased a 2019 stinger gt today from an alpha romero dealership. The finance lady tried to tell me the kia warranty is not transferable i argued this fact and she admitted that but there's only two months left on it for me which i was disappointed to learn. The warranty she tried to sell me seemed unreasonably expensive so i declined. It was at least double the warranty i purchased for my lexus es350 which i never even once used. Idk if the price is based off the fact a kia is less reliable then a lexus but she seemed pretty annoyed i declined. I couldn't tell if it was because she wanted my money or because she knows my car is going to fall apart every day. so far i've noticed my parking sensor is not working and the driver side mirror has no power. Thats pretty disappointing, I tried to be so thorough checking the car out i cant even adjust the mirror. I have to take the car to fix a recall that was never taken care of asap anyway, will i be able to use the kia warranty and would i need some kinda paperwork to use it, or is the fact that i show up in a stinger with 32,000 miles proof enough. Also i didn't purchase it from a kia dealership. In fact not even the same state i still have to wait for the title to get the car registered and inspected in my state and am using a 60 day temporary plate in the meantime.

Yeah, you are going to be paying out of pocket. Factory warranty to a secondary owner is only the limited powertrain warranty 5 years/60,000 miles. My guess is your hitting that 5 year mark in two months. parking sensor and side mirror would be covered by the limited basic warranty which is only available to the original owner (as i understand it).

IMO you still did the right thing by denying the aftermarket warranty, probably would have cost more for that then the actual repairs you will need. Take it to a dealer and get a quote for the work. Chances are with a little googling you could repair those problems yourself for minimal investment.

That is correct i have two months. Thats disappointing if true to have to deal with that day one but ig not the biggest deal. I would probably just look into fixing the mirror then. I think its just not getting power at all. I first noticed the passenger mirror folded in when door locks driver didn't. Parking sensors i really dont need or use. I gave them my lexus with a missing parking sensor actually. But the rest of them still functioned. The stinger just says system check over the whole screen making them 100% useless. The other thing i noticed im not sure the idle stop and go system is working. Another feature i wouldn't use but the light comes on the dash but i still hear the car running. Maybe i made a big mistake. Man the car is major fun while im driving it. Parked in the driveway. Filled with dread. Thank you for your reply.

Is this a peice of the car?? What is this? I didn't see nothing in the road, just heard like a snap then the sound of the metal on the ground as the tire rotate.

lol don't be blaming that on the car. it's a packing strip. I recognize it, yours has holes in it is the only difference. I came a cropper on one of those strips a few months ago. Mine was a sidewall hit, which makes no difference as far as getting a flat tire goes, but yours is a solid tread hit and might be repairable.

Warranty. No electrical stuff is warrantied beyond 60,000 miles to the original owner, or the purchaser of a KIA CPO. So, your mirror is on your dime. Hopefully it is only a disconnected wire or something like that. The motors don't go out typically. It's possible that the previous owner tried to adjust the mirror when it was icebound and stripped a gear, or something like that. Any internal damaged hardware is going to require replacement unless you can find a gearhead who knows how to disassemble and fix things.

Lexus versus KIA. The latter is in the top five routinely for reliability according to JD Power. I don't know where Lexus is. But KIA vehicles get neglected by their owners and are made to last, and they do. I think that Stinger owners are not typical of KIA owners generally. A lot of us are enthusiasts who take good care of our cars.DSCF3425.webp

The stinger has 33,000 miles on it. No im not blaming the car but it was sort if a nail in the coffin type moment as im having other issues and its barley been 24 hours. Its a fairly big hole but i would love if it can be patched safely. I was so excited for this car. Definitely the nicest car I've ever had sacrificing some of the Luxury that i love and am used to in the Lexus but i wanted more performance this time around and its a beautiful car, I hope i can learn to love it after i get through this rough patch, but im off to a rough start here i think. I'll tell you guys an semi-related story because i got a kick out of it and i think you guys really would too! And i wonder if we all feel this way.

So i called AAA to help with my tire situation as i was parked in a pretty sketchy location on a sort of highway. Im definitely not a gear head, but i have changed plenty of flat tires. Not super safe place to change the tire tho. i got impatient and had the car half way jacked up by the time the guy got there. Two separate cops passed me in the process i was surprised they didn't stop to ask if i needed help. But the guy shows up and we were talking i was saying how i wish it could of been the front tires that are far more worn out. He said it could probably be patched and i was like i dont know if thats possible ive never had high performance tires before. I dont think he's obviously ever seen a stinger before. Hes like it sounds cool...stinger... but in a kinda condescending way. I'm like I just want my Lexus back, he's like oh yea now those are nice cars.i told him how I drove a mustang as a rental recently and then I wanted something more high performance ever since. Hes like lexus usually has pretty good performance? Yea it did... but no!, I'm like I think this thing is faster than the mustang damn near, he looked at me funny, hes like oh idk well there's different kinds of mustangs they got a V6 and V8 etc., I'm like it was a V8, he just looked at me like i was stupid. I was like this has a V6 twin turbo hes just like oh yeah okay buddy kinda like I don't know if he believe me or not, lol then some guys like beeping at us cuz he was blocking part of the lane with his truck and flashing lights, Im like look at this f*ing guy. Thats wild. He says, happens all the time. And thats the end of the conversation but i really got a kick out of that, and that was like a major selling point for me with the stinger. I like being underestimated. Im not embarrassed that it's a kia whatsoever. Its been pretty awesome feeling so far pulling off from red lights and looking in the rear view at all the cars way back in the distance. And i still did that in my Lexus pretty easily too but definitely not on this level. And the mustang had some serious power and could haul ass and was pretty fun but it didn't feel like this. And just the whole feel and shape and all the sounds the car makes even. It has after market exhaust and cold air intakes. And the actual car they put it on a lift at the dealership and under the hood is insanely clean i never seen a car this clean. Im surprised im having so many issues. The stinger really makes you feel like a boss, like im driving a lambo or something, pretty cool i just hope things can start working out a little bit for me and i can really have a good experience with this car. Cuz it is certainly something special even tho im currently pretty unhappy.

I mean, regardless of the low mileage, it’s a 5 year old used car (6 since it probably went in service the year before its model year). Shit happens and neither of your issues are major.

Most of us have varying issues with our Stingers, whether it be minor rattles/ticks to freak transmission/engine issues. Which can happen to any car. Keep it all in perspective, fix the little problems you have and enjoy the car.

Pipe hanger strap, available at any Home Depot. There's a good chance your house has some if you have a crawl space. But the holes make it convenient for other stuff (including questionable auto repairs).

IMG_20240522_113444233_HDR.webpyea i have a whole new attitude today and thats pretty much the conclusion. I'll get the mirror and recall fixed the hell with the rest of it for now. Today i will figure out the tire situation. And i got recommended a performance shop with excellent ratings and they have a YouTube channel, so i figure i should have them give it a once over. Make sure everything good and maybe see if theres any more modifications im not aware of, besides the exhaust and intakes and maybe have them do the inspection if possible. So maybe first, hopefully the title will show up fast and i can get it registered in my state and it passes inspection which i think it should. It passed in pa, im in ny. Here she is by the way looking good. Im already turning heads these guys in a box truck were checking me out. I waved they laughed, lol I appreciate you guys. ✌️

Yea thats exactly what it is with a bolt on it or something. It doesn't appear to be from the car and the modifications look super clean and professional install. And in general everything under the hood and under the car is insanely clean. Even like the stickers on certain parts under the car are like damn near brand new looking. Ive never seen anything like it. Looks like the car started off in VA for most of its life now its Buffalo where i can absolutely destroy it.

hanging strap, not packing strap, I see that now. and upon further inspection, after your added detail about the 'bolt or something', it looks like that is what punctured your tread. you won't have any trouble getting that tire patched.

Second (third?) that a tire patch would work for that damage. Not the cheap DIY patch, the hole created by the bolt is on the bigger side, but a tire shop will have the correct/larger patch size.

You bought a used car. Expect things to break over time. The seller should have covered the repairs needed. Yes, the finance lady just wanted your money. The reason the extended warranty was expensive was the fact the Stinger is no longer being made (parts availability could be a challenge eventually) and that there's 30k+ miles on it. The more miles the more likely things will start to fail. It's math for the warranty company. Just figure the cost of the extended warranty and each time you pay out of pocket for a repair that would have been covered, deduct from that amount. You'll likely never spend the amount the extended warranty would have cost you. The most expensive things are mostly tied to the drivetrain, and that's the one thing that seems to last longest with this car.

IMG_20240522_142012780.jpgIMG_20240522_141959657.jpgyea i agree. Im glad to have some reassurance that i made an ok decision with the warranty. I've never purchased a warranty and not regret it in the past. I'm getting the tire patched, i have a freind whos a store manager at a Monroe muffler they got me in immediately and seem to know what they are doing and are taking care of it now. Heres the thingy ma bob in my tire. Thats pretty wild to have go through a tire.

yep, went in like the tire wasn't there. must have been sticking straight up, just waiting for YOU.

I'm honored to have that opportunity. I'm sorry to hear about your tire. It sucks that it was a sidewall. How freaking long is that thing that looks crazy?

that's pretty much all of it, it's hard to tell because it's folded over as you can see. probably c. six feet anyway. it was out in the middle of the road, because I was. I ran over the second segment that is attached midway along the long strip, and was sticking up or else the sidewall wouldn't have been nailed. the strips remained and I went on and lost air almost instantly. this was only a couple of blocks from home. changed to the donut and returned home, took the other car. later I walked back to see what had got me and found this on the shoulder of the road now, obviously moved by me. heh. I was just grateful that the danged thing didn't tag my wheel or paint! Nitto knocked off a hundred bucks on the price of a replacement tire. it was less than two days old, but they still didn't need to do that, it wasn't anything to do with them.

that strip I hit was invisible. Looking for whatever it was, later, I didn't see it until I was practically standing over it.

Yea i didn't see this thingy either but it wasn't 6 ft. Sheesh. I've definitely warmed up to the car alot. My concerns, It seems on days I'm busy were I'm just driving all day damn near non stop it seems to run louder kinda annoying and i worry is this thing gunna be ok, definitely weekends I'll be beating the piss out of it ig. Major concern i think my gf is to respectfully fat that the airbags turn off for her. Thats not good. The car been driving amazing past few days tho pretty quiet unless im ripping it. Its kinda funny and annoying in my lexus i can kinda gap people at red lights quiet and sneaky. Even faster cars cuz i was like a ninja, the stinger i can do that even faster but now theres competition ive noticed cuz with the exhaust ripping people trying to race me now, haha. I noticed this thing has a JB4 in it today. Ive been watching alot of videos about mods since the last time i opened the hood, today i opened it to show my dad and im like oh look a JB4. I'll have to figure out how that works. I have an appointment with a performance shop Wednesday to do a health check on the car. Im waiting on parts for the recall with kia. Tuesday i go to register it in ny i think i have all the paperwork. Then inspection. It passed in pa. Do i have to worry about taking it to kia or inspection with the JB4 or intakes? Ig Wednesday maybe ill learn if theres any other modifications im not yet aware of as well.
