It is my understanding that New Kia cars come with 5 year/60,000 mile basic warranty with road side assistance and 10 year/10,000 mile power train warranty.

My questions
1.) For a used car, I think power train warranty is limited to 5 years/60,000 mile but what happens to basic warranty (5 years/60,000 mile basic warranty with road side assistance), is it transferred apples to apples without any limitations?

2.) CPO, looks like (link below ) has the same warranty as like in a new car, correct? But what is this "Warranty Deductible: $50* Limited Warranty: 12 Month/12,000 Mile (whichever comes first) Platinum Coverage from certified purchase date" that some dealers are advertising?

I see a few used stingers (GT2 AWD) showing up but wanted to know the warranty details before I make a decision.

Was always under the assumption that the entire remaining warranty transferred. Would also be very curious to know if buying used from an individual in anyway reduces the warranty length.

I was too but I was told otherwise..

If the vehicle is a certified KIA pre-owned vehicle (meaning buying it used from a KIA dealer) then the warranty will transfer.
That's how it was explained to me.

My first KIA was a 2005 KIA Sadona that I bought in 2007 privately (from a co-worker) and I can tell you 100% that the full Warranty transferred to me. This is the car that got me hooked on KIA, as their Warranty was awesome, and they took care of me when the van failed State inspection. It had a bad cat converter, and KIA replaced it under Warranty at no charge to me.

Seems right, I was in the auto biz and have owned LOTS of cars, and never heard off factory warranty not transferring. It is on the car not the owner. Service department will only verify the odometer and warranty, not the title or registration.

Although Hyundai and Kia are well known for offering the best powertrain warranties in the industry -- 10 years or 100,000 miles -- these legendary warranties aren't transferable to a new owner. Fortunately, the warranty doesn't become completely invalid when a new owner buys the car; it just changes to 5 years or 60,000 miles of powertrain coverage.

The change is an important one for used-car shoppers to know; many drivers interested in a reliable car will likely choose a Hyundai or Kia based solely on the excellent warranty coverage. Unfortunately, the bulk of that excellent coverage is only available to the first owner

So the 5 year/60,000 mile basic warranty with road side assistance is also transferred to next owner, correct? That is my biggest concern.

That's not what the dealer told me when they soldenthe car..or the paperwork
