Kia Stinger Buyers In The U.S. Got These Cool Headphones

Just got mine today. HK Duet NC. BT and wired with noise canceling. Not bad for a gift. At 67, my hearing is not great so they sound good to me. Will be nice on my next plane trip. Reduce all those annoying sounds like whining kids and crying adults, and of course engine noise.

You know what’s cooler than getting headphones?
Not getting the same thing everyone else has got.
Phooey to the phones:p

Alright, all you audiophile geeks, I have an aggravating situation with my HK headphones; actually they are my only headphones, so I cannot compare to another set of headphones. But when I plug my HK phone jack into my laptop everything works fine. When I insert the jack into a 1/4" jack adapter and plug them into my stereo tuner to watch DVDs the sound is faint and crackly. If i push the little toggle on the jack cord, the sound booms in great; but, it isn't an on/off toggle, it is a hold it and let go toggle: when I let go the crappy sound returns. I only get great sound when I hold the toggle. Any suggestions on what is going on? I just want to listen on my HKs to movies and not bug my wife. But it is lame to have to hold the phone jack cord toggle down in order to hear full sound. (The same irritating loss of sound occurs when I listen to CDs as well. But it seems to be less pronounced)
Sounds like either the adapter or jack itself is the issue. Make sure both connections are secure. I was under the impression these headphones were Bluetooth capable...am I wrong?

you are correct, they have bluetooth but Merlin might not have a bluetooth capable tv/stereo. The toggle on the jack cord is a mic and the button is to mute the mic, it might have another use but that's the only one I can confirm. Actually it isn't even a toggle, it's just a button you hold down, I wish it was an actual toggle. Try replacing that jack with one without a built in mic and see if that fixes the issue. Getting a new home stereo system with bluetooth would probably work too :)

I bought my Stinger in early October and just received my headphones yesterday! They're pretty good but I have a wired set with better audio quality. These will get used when I'm doing something around the house and don't want a wire hanging from my head to my pocket. I might travel with them too since they can be folded flat and have noise cancellation, that's nice. They DO NOT work with the PS4 though, so no gaming with these guys. Not bad at all though for a freebie.

You can use it with the PS4, you just have to run the cable to the remote. I have not verified it personally but that is the case with my Sennheiser pxc 550 wireless bt set

Right, I should have said it won't work through the PS4 bluetooth which is the only way I would use them over my other wired headphones. These also have a built in mic in the jack cable which can not be turned off as far as I can tell.

Thanx. The first is way more less expensive than the second suggestion. ;) It is weird that holding the mic (toggle-shaped) button down makes everything perfect. Thank you for clearing up what that button is for. I had no clue and my manual is missing. (My next step, failing an answer here, was to look for the manual online.)

(edit to add: my Yamaha receiver/tuner is Bluetooth compatible. I just don't know how to get pairing to work on the headphones. It seems like the music/video source has to be Bluetooth too? Don't know anything about this. Grrr ...)

the manual doesn't explain the mic at all, I don't even think it calls it a mic. I had to figure out what it was by plugging it into my PS4 and going to the mic settings. I found that if I hold it down, it mutes the mic, but as soon as you let it go the mic turns back on. As for your Yamaha receiver I can't help you there, each model does it differently. Some can only receive blue tooth signals.

Found the "JBL" (same thing) manual online, finally. You're right: no mention of a "mic", just a "remote", whatever the heck that is supposed to be for (I don't understand the mic either):

My question is how can you have a thread of 20 pages that talks about a set of headphones?

I'm doing my best to make it continue by asking how to make my headphones work. They don't, not with my Yamaha receiver. So these tangents can spin this thread out for a while yet. ;)
