[Stinger Boy]

So I took my Stinger for its 7,500 km service recently as per the owners manual only to be told the GT’s should be serviced every 10,000 km.

I was told by Kia Chadstone that this was only recently advised to them.

Took a day off work to get the car serviced.

They should have told me prior to booking the car in if they knew.

Waste of time!

Still waiting to get my tow bar fitted which has been 5 months now.

They couldn’t fit the tow bar with the bi-modal exhaust.

I have close to 8K miles on my car. The service period is set at 4K miles (early on the first one, because I had been driving through dusty TX conditions and the engine bay looked like hell). My next maintenance is of course after 10K miles, close 11K miles. Why the difference? Approximately 6.5K miles versus my service department saying 4K?

I was told at the get go service was at 10,000kms intervals (but some at the dealership weren’t sure) which seems to be standard for turbo engines.
1st Service/Inspection is 3,000kms, then Log Book Service every 10,000kms.

The logbook clearly states 10,000kms for turbo petrol vehicle(Stinger) which I've pointed out to the dealership I bought my car from as they did not have a clue about. They stuck a service label for 15,000km service after my initial 3,000km check up. I've just recently had my 10,000km service with same dealership and guess what kms they put on for next service, 25,000km. As you would guess, I will no longer be taking my car back to this dealership for my 20,000km service. As for capped price servicing of $252 specified on their website, this dealership charged me $259 which is more than the capped price. Be wary all Stinger owners, make sure of the price before having your car serviced because you may get a rude shock!

My dealer was good, 10,000kms service was $252 as specified.

I just ignore these things and do what I know to be correct as per the handbook

When I bought my car the dealer set the service warning indicator on the display for me. When I got close to 3000ks it counted down.

I did my research at about 5000km and realised the service was at 10K. Sticker from my first free service had me coming back at 20K. Service Manual said 7.5K.

You have been issued with an old manual, like me. I’m still waiting for a promised new manual.

Go to Welshpool rd service centre absolutely outstanding! Nice waiting room with cupcakes and real cappuccino lots of current magazines and a big tv and computer with internet !

I'm going in at the first opportunity to have the maintenance people change my service warning from 4K miles to every 6K miles, as the manual recommends. No sense using up my remaining seven "free" maintenance/oil changes any faster than necessary!

There's a tool on Kia website where you can enter your VIN number to check detailed servicing. Mine comes up as 10,000 intervals.

Well, that didn't end up happening. Service guy said Utah is considered a "harsh" climate for driving conditions. A "severe" driving conditions area would get maintenance/oil change at 3K miles; harsh should be serviced at 4-5K miles. So, I stick with what is recommended: 4K mile intervals.

My dealer has been great (Joe Crisafio). Kia arent even close to premium customer service which is understandable given this is the top of the line model, not the average. My attitude is to be there with eyes wide open and ensure I know what we want and how much to pay for it. You don't ask, you don't get. Had my 3k service yesterday and they were brilliant. Was offered a loan car without hesitation, didn't need it in the end as it was all done and returned within 45 minutes. And the coffee was decent.

TruVideo - Repair Orders
I've posted this a couple of times elsewhere. It was suggested that this would be a good thing if it caught on. I say, point your service people to it, and then ask for one each time you go in for anything the puts your car in the air (they obliged last time, when I got new front under panels on, and let me take pictures before they brought the car down). If Jerry Seiner can raise the bar, there's no reason why everyone else should not be expected to measure up. "The customer is king." I heard that as a kid. Whatever happened to it? I think that Kia is trying. We can help by expecting/demanding the level of treatment we want.
