Kia Has No Plans to Kill the Stinger.

^^That's what you need to do- a fly-n-ride. If you won't pay over MSRP, and that's ME, do it. The money saved is worth it, plus I turned the trip from Chicago into a small adventure with my wife- Chicago Pizza at Lou Malnati's and Nicky's Thai Kitchen in Pittsburgh, 2 night of hotels, 1-way flight, plus gas/tolls for the ride home totaled perhaps $700. I negotiated $500 under MSRP, so very worth it IMHO and I got everything I wanted.

I’ve spoken to 25+ dealers over the past month and have gotten similar answers. Some say Kia isn’t taking orders for it, and some will try to find you one. I have a black AWD Scorpion edition coming in a couple weeks to NC that I reserved but found a Ceramic Silver one in another state that I just bought. If someone is interested I have it reserved!

I called Kia directly and the person on the phone said he didn’t know why dealers were saying it was discontinued. He said to keep calling dealers to find one that will take orders. My recommendation is find one through Kia’s inventory website, call lots of dealers, and fly/buy or get it shipped. And every dealer in Atlanta is charging $10k+ over MSRP.
I’m in Texas and ordered mine from a dealer in Fort Worth. MSRP - Incentive + $895 for PDI (pre delivery inspection, gas, detail, and tints I believe). 4-6 months turn around time. Honestly it may be a 2023 model year?

That's great to hear. I've not been able to get anywhere near that on a new purchase. I'm in Northern VA. Searched, every dealership I could in a 300 mile zip code range. Even so far as 525 miles to Cleveland, Tennessee in search of a Stinger. Went to some, spoke to some over the phone and the rest via email. Only found 4 that would deal at MSRP or lower- and they either didn't have the GT Line AWD, or the only one on the lot was a Ceramic/Black combo which i just don't prefer. I missed one at King Kia by 4 HOURS. Found a dealer yesterday outside Pittsburg that looked promising- only to find out they have some ridiculous Luxcare protection package that is added onto all their cars for $1495 (what is this, the 80's?). Most have a $1,000 or higher "market adjustment". Went to one dealer that was 6K.

Jeez, if your looking all the way to Cleveland, then go to Chicago- Gary Lang Kia has 6 2020 AWD GT-Line Stingers available right now. Ask for Jared, he hooked me up with little to no BS, they also paid for an Uber from the airport- its an hour away, so that's another $100 saved.

Tell Jared Rick sent you, my Stinger is Ascot green, which can be even harder to find.

GL!

It was Cleveland, Tennessee- I know that sounds confusing but I guess there is a town in Tenneesse with that name. The Ascot Green/Beige is exactly the combo i'm looking for. Thx for the info though, I might have to take a look at him.

I was looking for a Ceramic Silver Scorpion AWD and found 5 in the country. I live in NC and found a dealer in WI that wasn’t charging over MSRP and am currently having it shipped for $1500. Process was relatively painless and I don’t have to wait 6+ months.

I posted in the dealer forum a couple dealers I contacted that weren’t charging over MSRP and would ship, so check those out.

Funny - I contacted a dealer in NJ that had one and asked if it was available. Salesman said someone stole it, wrecked it, and it’s currently being fixed to be sold “used”. Only in NJ!
Thank you

What dealer did you order it from? I'm also in FW but had to order one from a dealer in Dallas to get it below MSRP. Moritz was asking $3k markup when I checked with them a couple months ago.

That’s odd. All three Moritz dealers I called had no mark up. I ordered from a Moritz Kia Alliance.

I'm wondering whats the probability that orders go unfulfilled. Some dealers tell me they are taking orders, some say they are not because it's pointless. Lot of confusion. Can't even get a straight answer on whether production will continue or not. If Stingers are not being produced on the assembly line anymore, if Kia shifted the Stinger plant to EV6- where are these orders going to be handled? I just worry about putting an order in and then a few months from now I get the call from dealership that the order hold is being refunded. At that point I'd probably have zero chance of finding an existing one still sitting on lot.

From what I’ve gathered, not all dealers can place orders on the Stinger. They also aren’t killing the vehicle just yet and if you place an order it will likely be fulfilled with a 2023 model year. I’m just going to be hopeful and patient.

I have confidence you'll get your order...unless the ship sinks on the way over. There are still cars coming into the dealers but not every dealer gets everything. The higher volume dealers get more of the rare items for sure.

Ya they didn't just have a straight up markup but they had a "markup" by adding $250 worth of stuff for 2k and including the rebate in the price without actually giving the rebate essentially marking it up another 1k lol. Again this was about 3 months ago so it definitely could've changed since then.

FWIW- I looked into placing an order today with Koons Kia in Va. After all the back and forth with a salesman, the GM jumped in a bit ago and squashed it all. Told me, "sorry, but we can't place anymore Stinger orders. Can only help you with what we got on the lot".

I had another dealer confirm that they are continuing for at least a 2023 model year. Only larger dealers are getting allocations for orders.

I don't really understand the confusion running rampant with Stinger availability/ordering among the dealerships.
It's an absolute certainty that Kia knows what they are manufacturing next quarter, the quarter after that, and so on. The manufacturing plants and vendors providing parts specific to each model, and variation of that model, know exactly what they are producing.

It's in the dealers' best interest to scare the buyer so they buy what's on hand now. Brilliant tactics.

Talked to my salesman yesterday because of all the stuff I read on here about orders not takin or being fulfilled and he guaranteed me 100% my order will be built and delivered. I ordered Feb.5th . That being said I found a 2022 ceramic silver scorpion in Idaho for MSRP. No markup $55,887. Almost pulled the trigger on it but after talking to my dealer I backed out. Mind you I didn’t tell my dealer about it so there was no influence on his part to reassure me about my order. If anyones looking Nampa Idaho is where it is. I’m sure won’t be there long. Hope I don’t end up regretting passing it up lol. Oh well gotta have a little faith and a whole lot of patience. You people who already have stingers, lucky bastards I can’t wait to have mine!!! Udin udin udin I hope no one is offended by that last statement it’s not meant to be. Just my sense of humor. Stupid one has to even explain that these days. Oh well.. good luck fellow stinger seekers!
