Kia Has No Plans to Kill the Stinger.

I placed an order for a gt2 on feb 5th. Was told 4 to 6 months. So….‍

IMO the Stinger was created by Kia Motors to help increase brand awareness & perception, it was built off the Hyundai Genesis RWD platform that had already been tried & tested in the US for almost 2 years prior to the Stingers release.
Kia already said from the getgo that they do not anticipate huge sales numbers, I believe 2024 MY24 will be its last year which will be 7 years from initial release, I hope I’m wrong but I’m just being realistic.

I hope it works out because you'll love it. Moving from a GT to a GT2 Scorpion was amazing. The head up display and 360 cameras are phenomenal.
All the other amenities like power hatch, power adjusting steering wheel, ventilated programmable seats, and the Harmon Kardon system really bring an already impressive, fun vehicle clearly to the luxury sport level.

Gonna be the longest six months of my life lol I’m in Iowa and my dealer said 100% this order will get built just could not promise an exact time of arrival to the dealership. He believed somewhere between 4 and 6 months. So fingers crossed I guess.

4 months is probably on the optimistic side, 6 months is most likely - but hopefully it's sooner for you!

I don’t know where you are from but where I am there isn’t a 2022 gt 2 on a lot within 1000 miles of me or even further. I’ve had no luck locating one that wasn’t sold already or even on a lot.

I don’t know where you are from but where I am there isn’t a 2022 gt 2 on a lot within 1000 miles of me or even further. I’ve had no luck locating one that wasn’t sold already or even on a lot.

If you want to fly to SoCal and drive 1800 miles back to Iowa there was a black Scorpion available as of Saturday.

I just bought my 4th Stinger today... a ceramic Scorpion Edition to replace the ceramic GT1 I got in October.

Your fourth Stinger? That must be a record! Out of interest, did you sell your previous ones due to accident damage or something? It must be expensive to repeatedly trade-in your Stingers.

Lol. Yeah, sounds strange I know. In 2018 I leased a Micro-blue GT. Loved it, of course. At 3 years the GM of the only Kia dealership I will deal with put me in a 2022 ceramic GT for the exact same money I was paying. About 3 months later, I was at the dealership picking up my car at the service department because there was some item rattling apparently behind the dash. I went inside to use the restroom and the GM saw me, asked what was up and I told him. He said he had another exactly the same and he'd take the other one back in trade and give me the new one, not a penny out of my pocket...pretty cool. I also asked him about a Scorpion and he said he'd let me know when he was getting any. That was October. A week ago he texted me he had two, one Ceramic and he'd buy my GT back at full value. Next day I was driving home my 4th Stinger.
I also arranged the sale of a Telluride Prestige with Nightfall package for my sister for about 8K less than the best deal she could find elsewhere.
For some reason, the GM became my buddy and it has worked out really well for me, so it's not that I'm throwing stupid money around for fun.
The only downside is I actually like negotiating my own deals because it's awesome to be able to walk away with a deal where I didn't leave an extra penny on the table!

There's probably a siren that alerts them anytime you get within 5 miles of the dealership.

I think this is about pumping up the sales numbers. They sell over 800 cars a month.

I have been calling Kia Dealerships all over Austin, TX and they are all stating that Kia is not taking orders. They were sure it would be discontinued and that all the dealers are doing for taking "orders" are just waiting for one to match what you wanted. I honestly have no idea what the truth is behind this.

I was looking for a Ceramic Silver Scorpion AWD and found 5 in the country. I live in NC and found a dealer in WI that wasn’t charging over MSRP and am currently having it shipped for $1500. Process was relatively painless and I don’t have to wait 6+ months.

I posted in the dealer forum a couple dealers I contacted that weren’t charging over MSRP and would ship, so check those out.

Funny - I contacted a dealer in NJ that had one and asked if it was available. Salesman said someone stole it, wrecked it, and it’s currently being fixed to be sold “used”. Only in NJ!

I’ve spoken to 25+ dealers over the past month and have gotten similar answers. Some say Kia isn’t taking orders for it, and some will try to find you one. I have a black AWD Scorpion edition coming in a couple weeks to NC that I reserved but found a Ceramic Silver one in another state that I just bought. If someone is interested I have it reserved!

I called Kia directly and the person on the phone said he didn’t know why dealers were saying it was discontinued. He said to keep calling dealers to find one that will take orders. My recommendation is find one through Kia’s inventory website, call lots of dealers, and fly/buy or get it shipped. And every dealer in Atlanta is charging $10k+ over MSRP.
