Kia Has No Plans to Kill the Stinger.

That's not a great article, but the information seems to fit with rumors saying lately that the US models will survive, but the European and Australian models may be on a short leash.

I say, just drive it and have fun driving it. Fortunately the engine is shared with other vehicles so the aftermarket will live on for a while.

It's all talk. I think there will be a 2023 model year, and my prediction is that 2024 will be the last, b/c it's sort of getting long in the tooth now, and will be ancient by mid-2023 when you consider they had hit the market in the latter part of 2017 (over 4 years ago). Let's revisit this a year or two from now.

The reality is no one buys sedans anymore, and only us here appreciate a car like this enough to spend our hard-earned money on one. It's either SUVs they'll keep focusing on, along with EVs. Camry and Accord shoppers are too loyal, and would be more likely to move up to the Lexus IS models (not the IS500) or Acura TLXs even though the Stinger outperforms them both on the track and on spec sheets.

I think if they want to keep a halo car in the line-up, they should do a Stinger 2-door coupe as a next generation to be really niche that can do 0-60 in under 4 seconds, and either make it a hybrid or plug-in hybrid. The K5 can be the mid-size sedan flag bearer. I would consider buying a coupe version if they styled it nicely and kept luxury features.

^^Hey, I resemble that remark. Used to have a 9th gen accord 4 cyl (2015). Granted, it was a handed down car. I did shop other accords 6 months ago when shopping for a different car. Didn't consider toyota/lexus as I don't care much for their offerings.

An acura was considered, but issues with the 2 liter turbo (limp mode when driven hard in the rain) turned me off. Current accord is off the table as I don't fit in it well. My knee is in the center console/start button area with seat comfortably adjusted.

Passed on the k5 gt because dealers wanted over msrp and offerings well slim. FWD is a turn off too.

Build quality on the stinger is mediocre compared to my '12 G37S. I suppose that's to be expected in today's market.

I expect to keep this car for a long while.

The Stinger will live on as the sport trim for the EV6.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Last year for this configuration as said by KIA.

While on the topic of other cars, I would buy the K5 as a daily if it came with the 3.3 or 3.5, the 2.5 isn’t enough for that boat lol

Front wheel drive is a deal breaker for me. AWD doesn't use the larger engine, which makes zero sense.

Agreed on that one. If the K5 GT had AWD, I would have given it a much more serious look.

Also agree on that one. One also has to be careful with AWD, as some are front-wheel drive with the rear wheel drive only activating when the front wheels lose traction.

Source? Because lets be honest a lot of hyperbole out there by people who just want internet traffic. If it isn't a direct press release by KIA I give very little head to it.

Spoke with two local KIA dealers and one out of state. I asked about ordering a new Stinger GT2 AWD, all responded that you can no longer order a Stinger and that they are discontinued. 2022 is the last year for them. Also I was told an EV would be replacing it.

I just bought my 4th Stinger today... a ceramic Scorpion Edition to replace the ceramic GT1 I got in October. I'm super happy to get it while it was there to get. I really hate to see the Stinger go. There's no reason it can't be given a facelift and kept around for several more years IMO, other than the enormous pressure being put on auto makers to put out EVs. Make an EV or hybrid Stinger!
Instead of putting gas in the car you charge it up using mostly natural gas fired generation. Just because one doesn't smell gas when "filling up" one's car does NOT mean it has a small carbon footprint. EVs are just as carbon heavy to manufacture as any other vehicle, the huge amount of batteries being use is an environmental nightmare, and only a relatively small percentage of the electricity being used to power the EVs is renewable and green (solar and wind generation). I realize that innovation comes from competition and improvements over time. Eventually EVs will actually be what everyone wants you to think they are now which is truly, from cradle to grave, environmentally friendly vehicles. The vehicles themselves are just a part of the equation. The largest part of the EV concept is actually the environmentally friendly production of electricity without using fossil fuels. It will be a long time before we can run the country on renewable energy considering nuclear power is no longer on the table.

I'm not saying they're wrong but I'd caution you against taking the word of car dealers about future products. They don't have inside information. Most don't even know what they are selling let alone what's being discussed behind closed doors at Kia Corporate.

When the dealers receive concrete information regarding the Stinger's future, the rest of the world will already know.

To think that a sales manager knows corporate strategy is just silly.

I can attest to this. Spoke to a dealer today and asked him if he would be receiving any more 2022 Stingers, he tells me two are coming but unknown ETA. Another dealer at the same exact dealership tells me in no way shape or form are the receiving any more Stingers.
