3.3TT KHARTUNERZ - NEW CATLESS SECONDARY DOWNPIPES Ark Performance

Sorry for the old threat revival but in the comments section of this video there's a guy saying this is all BS, that this isnt sold anymore and dyno was manipulated. Any final consensus on secondary DPs?
I have the ARK DP and MBRP Pro CB and there is a performance bump. MAYBE 5whp/wtq, but if that is why you're after this mod you are uninformed.

1) You want to do this to free up the impeller from additional backpressure. Making it easier for the turbo to make more power more quickly.

2) This will move your peak power curve up, and this is one half of why this mod makes your car quicker.

3) Weight savings. The stock DP and CB combo is HEAVY!

Jonny,
I could write a book but here is short of it. Ignore HP gains, ignore those saying BS. The proper approach to our cars is a combined approach, more colder air in, remove waste better/faster. There are many benifits to this hp/tq is one a couple of them.

openning ur exhaust and reducing back pressure leads to quicker turbo spool times and better scavenging…
Scavenging is the process of replacing the exhaust gas in a cylinder of an internal combustion engine with the fresh air/fuel mixture for the next cycle. If scavenging is incomplete, the remaining exhaust gases can cause improper combustion for the next cycle, leading to reduced power output.

increasing airflow and temps into engine
(intakes/Ic) can increase power but also allow the turbos to create same amount of power at lower rotation speeds. The out put is cooler EFTs, exhaust gasses leaving through your cars exhaust.

I tell people not to thin linear like, I just added intakes so I can add 17hp to my power, it’s about the wholistic approach.

removing the secondary cats by installing the ark, or any mud pipes removed a bottleneck, allowing the gasses to flow better and other upstream systems to be just a little more efficient.

I ran lots of tests using my draggy.
8 different intakes (yes I am probably only person to run 8 different intakes, lol)

3 different exhausts with multiple configurations.
Most important I ran completely stick, stock with cutouts
Three aftermarket, cut outs on all three.

bottom line, the most restrictive part of our exhaust are the factory mufflers. I have AWD stinger which is rated 4.9 0-60
Using no paddle shifters, completely stock I was consistent at around 4.85, 4.9
Just removing mufflers I ran 4.7-4.76
Running ark mid pipes with aftermarket cat back I ran low 4.58
Running with paddle shifters I hit 4.5 flat and am sure could have gotten into 4.48-4.49 range.

I don’t care if mid-pipes on a dyno show a 5hp gain or a 25hp gain. If you are going to mod, add intake, IC, jb4(or other tune) mid pipes are worth it. If you are only going to change your exhaust and nothing else get rid of stock mufflers.

other note on mid pipes is they dip add a few nice gurgles when coasting.

side note on intakes. I’ve run the following
Injen
BMS
Agency Power
Jonny Tig
DYI
AEM
CXR
the plastic based intakes stayed cooler at idles buy 3-5 degrees (4 min idle test in 90 degree heat) Other than that performance was the same on all intakes. You can spend $98 on dyi and get same return as a $700 set of intakes.

conclusion on mid-pipes
My butt dyno says there is a noticeable gain when I added, since part of the fun of modding is the fun of modding and how it makes you feel driving your car, totally worth it!!
From the wholistic mod game, worth it…yes. But real gains would coming with removing stock primaries too which I will not do.

if others think not worth it that’s fine, knowing how GDI/turbo engines work I think it’s worth it depending in your overall plans/goals.

hopefully clear as mud:)
Cheers

I don't have time to write all that, but this lol

Good info guys. Yeah so again I'm coming from a Q60 and the biggest choke point was the secondary cats. 500 bucks and you got ur self 30/40 extra whp, too bad it's not such an easy win here. Or perhaps good thing the factory secondary cats aren't super restrictive to begin with :)

Sound/drone wise, anyone with the 2022 model running these? Curious because it comes with a valved muffler, wondering about how much louder and if any drone when valves closed/open.

Hp/tq ratings are marketing:) dynos can be all over the place, hence this thread never being resolved lol. Do yourself a favor, get a draggy, get some baseline pulls then compare as you mod. That’s real world!
Added Noise on yours will still be about same as other models. I am noise adverse. Ark exhaust as example sounds really good on outside but is incredibly loud to me in the cabin, borla way to loud for me too. MF is one of the quiet AF exhausts. I make the ck71 drls and offer free install to those local so I have ridden in stingers with just about every exhaust made for the stinger. Almost all are louder in the cabin than I like. I also have my trunk space, back seat, underneath the center console sound deadened.
The mid pipes add some noise but it is minimum, even the quietest AF catback adds way more noise. I did not notice any drone with the mid-pipes on my 2021 stinger.
Noise/drone levels is totally subjective. I would rate myself a 2 on scale of 1-10 on noise acceptance and ark mid pipes are fine.
My buddies that run the ark and borla love them, I’d rate the an 8 of 10 on level of noise they can handle. They both added the arks as well.

good luck, hope this helps

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Yeah for sure very subjective, I went pretty far modding my Q to a point it got a bit too loud and harsh, awesome fun car but not great on long rides.

So looks like for now I wont be doing any exhaust upgrades, will just start with intake, jb4 and sway bars.

Thanks again guys!

Anyone know how long they take to ship there items after payment is made? ordered ark mid pipes on Wed 7/21 very early morning still have not heard or received tracking # i message them before i ordered to confirm they where in stock and they said yes.

Just FYI

Everything I order is from khartunerz.com and I've had zero problems with them. Have spent well over $5k with them in the last 2 years.
