• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Hi guys, I've been toying with the idea of getting a JB4 but the issue is our fuel out here on the east coast, 91 octane is the best you can get so I'd be sticking with Map 1. Any experience with Map 1 on canadian 91 from any other members? Is it even worth the effort and are your cars running okay?

My car runs just fine on 91 with the JB4

Map 1 is the most you can/should go safely on 91. You will get a performance bump on 1 but you will also have the ability to log your pulls which is a great benefit for those concerned about longevity. I thought Chevron had their 94 across the country.

Fine is nice, I guess. Me, I like to have my Stinger run excellent so I put the best 93 I can find in it. And when I want to turn it up I'll add some E85. I will also log runs every so often to ensure it's running excellent.

I ran map 2 with 91 fine when I had JB4. So did Terry himself... check logs

Does running map 2 on 91 less fuel efficient than map 1 or it makes no difference, just how heavy your foot is.

I have yet to see a quality map2 log on 91.
From N54;
Map 1: 4psi over stock peak tapering to 2.5psi at high RPM. Default performance map suitable for all 91+ octane fuels.
Map 2: 5psi over stock tapering to 4psi at high RPM. Suggested for 93+ octane fuel.
Map 3: 6psi stock tapering to 5psi at high RPM. Suggested for high quality fuel including unleaded race gas, ethanol mixtures up to 30%, or high quality.

You don’t run Map2 on 91.

Here some good comments that relate to our little discussion here. Map 2 Logs

I just installed HKS plugs (.022 gap) yesterday as well as my JB4. 91 octane from AZ Costco. Currently on Map2, car feels like it's running strong but not sure how to read the logs...

Would love to hear some opinions!

Yeah, exactly. 93 is suggested. However as I said my logs were fine on 91 and so were Terry Burger's. If you can run 93 great but that doesn't mean 91 won't work. Log it.

I think we would all like to see one of your fine logs with map2 on 91.

You can run map2 on Shell 93 safe
but running is only okay
if you put some octane booster you will find the car more smooth&powerful
but will dmg your spark plug for sure(I did cause quicky I swap to HKS so not really care I knew I do not need them anymore shortly)

Isn't that the worst! We have a refinery in NB & we can't get e-85, or 93 octane. You posted this over a year ago. So I'm in the East Coast & looking at getting a JB4. How are you making out with running 91 with the JB?

Can anyone help me. In what order should I do my mods. So far I got the MBRP Catback. I'm looking at adding HKS plugs, Air intake & JB4. In what order should I do these? I was thinking HSK, Air then JB? Any suggestions would be appreciated

It will still offer you improvement over stock but you'll he lucky if you can even run Map2 with acceptable timing corrections.. if you want any sort of significant performance improvement you have to go the meth injection route unfortunately.

You could also look into CPI but not sure how much that helps running 91 only

What if I used an octane booster with the 91? I'm not going Meth! I'll go without before I do that.

Flow first then plugs and Jb4 on the same day. If you are close to Vancouver I have Injens for sale.
