As some of you know, @Huda and I took our Stinger for a road trip from Riyadh-KSA to Dubai-UAE. This trip is approximately 1,050kilometers (650miles). It takes us about 8-9hours with gas station stops and the boarder. We’re highly familiar with the road, since we travel to Dubai 2-3 times a year, most of it is due to work. But this time was for leisure, or as Huda likes to say “To see what the Stinger is made of..”
We woke up at about 8:30am Friday Morning, Huda went on to make us breakfast and lunch sandwiches for the road (since our plan was to only stop for gas) while I went to check the car, and load our two luggage cases. After that we turned the engine on, and hit the road at about 9:30am.
We drove for around 200kilometers (124miles), and then stopped for fuel, not due to the car’s need, but because we’re going through Rub’ al Khali Deserts (Empty Quarter) were there will be no gas station for more than 300kilometers. This desert is the largest contiguous sand desert in the world, it’s considered Quarter of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Hence the name “Empty Quarter”.
After the car was fueled, we rocketed out to the open road between the deserted sands, only straight lined roads without any curves, might I also add that there's only 1 or 2 cars each 15-20kilometers (9-12miles).
Once I say we rocketed out, I literally mean “ROCKETED OUT”. This car really flies away without hesitation, unless your were the one hesitant! Otherwise the car will keep going until you get anxious and left your foot off the pedal like I did…. At around 200km/h (125mph) !!
We drove like this most of the time, between 140-220km/h (85-135mph) just enjoying how the car cruises so well on such high speeds. However I could not understand why the car loves to consider us to take a break? I’ll revert to the manual to solve this mystery.
Before entering the boarder, you must fill you car – it is a 101 Road trip basics – because the prices here for 1 liter is $0.37 and in the UAE it's double the price, at around $0.65.
Anyway, we arrived at the boarder which only took us less than 10mins, which is great!
Once we entered United Arab Emirates, we had approximately 450kilometers (280miles) left to reach Dubai, so I turned on SCC and LKA, and sat comfortably in my seat to enjoy one of Huda’s best Grilled Toast Turkey Club Sandwiches that money can't buy !!
After a while, we got board setting the cruise control on 159km/h (99mph) – Because in UAE the speed limit is 160km/h (100mph) – and there are speed cams every 10-15kilometers (6-9miles).
So we decided to Immiaditley stop after a speed cam, to use the launch control from 0 – to the car’s top speed, since we roughly have 12kilometers (7miles) of 3 straight radar free lines, might I also add, that these straight lines have shoulders on both the right and left.
Without further ado, here's the LC from 0-272km/h (0-169mph)…
After this shocking performance, we just got addicted...
After each speed cam, I just floor the car till it reaches 270km/h (168mph). I completely comprehend that this is totally wrong, but mercy God, I just could not handle the temptation of this car's acceleration, and how on earth it can fly you back to the seat once you floor it on 180km/h (112mph). This car is just ridiculously fast. I must add this quote from a previous post I wrote “This car is deadly if the wheel is in the wrong irresponsible hands”.
Finally, after such incredible long hours of enjoying the car, we arrived to Dubai at around 6:30pm UAE time. Which means it took us a flat 8hours.
After a great night in Dubai, we headed back to the hotel. And woke up the next morning and went to the gas station to get fuel for the car, only to notice that the front pumper is disassembled. I have not hit a bump nor anything like it since I bought the car. However it was an easy fix.
The only explanation I could think of was; it was disassembled because of the high speed. Which is crazy to think. Fast forward, when we were heading back to our home Riyadh, I drove over 240km/h (150mph) to test if it will disassemble again? Which it did !!!
Anyways, back to Dubai, I met with a couple of Stinger owners and arranged a small meet up just to take picture with each other, unfortunately only 2 came – Because of Eid Holidays – so we were a total of three, 2 White Stinger and our treasured Ceramic Silver.
And for some reason the cops showed up! .. telling us that you're not allowed to gather around this place. Which the cops have stated that this place is only meant for individuals not for groups. which I don't know what it means. Till this day I don't know what is the reasoning behind this. As you can see, it's a parking lot with a walking path besides the sea.
I asked my fellow Stinger owner, he said that they came here 3 time before. And stayed up for over 3 hours and no cops every showed up. And this time we were here for only a half an hour. Maybe it was my bad luck in action!
However we spoke with the cops, which then he let us off with a warning! without knowing why? which will remain a mystery to us.
After 3 nights in Dubai, Huda drove us to Abu Dhabi, to stay there for 1 night. Abu Dhabi is about 150kilometers (93miles) far away from Dubai. It usually takes about 80-90mins drive.
After spending the night in Abu Dhabi, we headed back on Tuesday afternoon to Riyadh, which we've reached home before midnight. At the end we'd like to share a picture of this masterpiece.
