I’m really looking to get a GT Stinger but the negative thing I’ve seen most is about the interior. Some say the technology is a older one than in other Kias. What’s your thoughts on the interior? And is their a difference between the 2018 and 2019 GT interior other than color?
Well the car went on sale in SK in early 2016 so we can assume the tech is no newer than 2015. So speaking just of technology you're looking at more than 5 years of advancements since it's design/release. I believe the infortainment system is running Android 4, for what's its worth. The infotainment in mine is virtually identical to what my wife had in her 2016 Optima, which is basically the same as a 2015 Sonata, which went on sale in 2014. If I had to guess I'd say the tech in a 2018 Stinger was first used by Hyundai/Kia in late 2013. They have done incremental updates along the way, such as android auto/apple carplay and map updates, so it's not like the car is from the stoneage or anything.
I would hold out and see if they end up actually building the second generation. The technology in the car is good, I mean it can practically drive itself for short distances (but don't do this) but I would like a better/bigger infotainment screen and if they're going to put the digital cluster in the next gen I would love to have that. But you're not going to get into this car and feel like you're sitting in something super outdated. It's got everything.
