2.0T Increasing fuel consumption

Hi, from ECU update (about 1 year ago), which finally solved the problem with GPF regeneration, I have lose power for about 2 seconds sometimes, when I want to speed up (but not when I press the gas pedal to kickdown). Sometimes it happend but sometimes not. Its little bit annoying and of course dangerous. There is not any fault on diag so dealer did nothing with this problem and it is difficult to simulate a problem in dealership. Anyone with similar behavior or not? Car had 20000km when I first see this, now has 30000.

I had the same problem as you. The ignition coils that come with the car are faulty. I had to replace mine along with the spark plugs. It was covered under warranty.

Uk 2L owner here. I'm finding a significant drop in mpg (L per 100) and it sounds like it could be the ECU problem but wanted to check if I'm missing something. I've done some 300km trips where I've managed 40mpg easily. However some days I'm finding I can't get over 30mpg! Today, i did 150km and i couldnt get over 30mpg. When I stopped at the services I happened to stumble upon this forum post and wondered if that might be my issue. 45 mins stopped for food and then returned to the car and it went back to over 40mpg again. No warning lights for me...which having read the 8 pages here seems to differ from other UK owners. To me it seems to probably have the ECU problem but I've not idea how to see what version I should have and what version I currently run. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. Ps, sorry for mixing MPG and km.

Hi! Yup, sounds exactly like the regen logic problem. You have to go to a Kia dealer and ask them to check your VIN for any recalls. If your car has the GPFs (which I assume it does) it should be part of the recall.
If they claim it's been done, maybe ask them to give you proof.

I spoke to Kia this monring. They did the update back in 2022, but apparently there is another update to the ECU which I don't have. Given that it already had the update that seems to be causing the previous problem is it possible it could be something different causing my issue? I did ask them to send me proof it had been done but she said it was just a tick on the system for her and that I would need to take it into the Garage for them to look at the specific version it was running.
