3.3TT *IMPORTANT* WHO WANTS ORANGE RUBBER IN ENGINE MANIFOLD??

Would you please measure the sizes and check to see if Vibrant makes a coupler?
I plan to remove/inspect my coupler tomorrow. :O

Gen Vodka - thanks for posting this.

It is an odd size. 2.375 to 3.125 if I recal @ 19 degrees

Maybe I'm a bit devils advocate here, but holy hell are a bunch of you freaking out of the most insignificant issue I think I have ever seen. Most of that flake will end up lining metal pipes or deteriorated to ash as a part of the combustion process. How is either it being stuck to a pipe, instead of lining the side of a silicon pipe, or passing through the combustion system harmlessly an issue? Get a grip boys, seriously.

In an almost humorous manner, I feel like this is an attach on silicone couplers that have orange inner lining more than it is the emergence of a major issue.

Well I don't know about you but I would rather not have rubber in my combustion. It could also serve as a pretty good base for valve carbon buildup.

Ya imma pass on my bore being smeared with rubber. Thanks though

I'm not super worried about the rubber breakdown/glitter, moreso about the carbon buildup I'm already beginning to see in my valves despite using a catch can.

It's raining pretty hard right now, and since I don't have a garage at the moment I won't have the opportunity to pull my intake manifold for the next few days. That said, I'm going to do the lazy method of cleaning valves for the time being...

Got one of each kind they had. Haha.

I'm wondering, those of us who are infected with the orange glitter virus (ie OGVI-20), who has used octane booster in the past?

I've used one tank full with octane booster added throughout my entire ownership of my car. I'm beginning to doubt that it's actually from the TB coupling, it's too glittery.

I'm pretty sure the previous owner did not use octane booster. Also tore off the orange liner today. I am pretty sure the glitter is from it. It left dry fine orange powder on my hand. Dry powder = light = gets sucked in intake easy = gets stuck on sides since they are wet with oil = become also wet and glittery due to oil. That's my logic anyways. @jeffh @Toddasaurus IMG_20200309_215955.webp

I pulled my intake manifold after spraying in some CRC valve cleaner in there. Did not see any orange sparkles; but, if there were any to begin with I assume the CRC spray got rid of them.

On a side note, removing the I/M is pretty straightforward and not difficult. When it comes time to scrub down the valves, it shouldn't be too bad. Especially if you use GDI intake valves cleaner, as it dissolves the carbon deposits and all you really need is a bunch of towels or rags, and maybe a toothbrush.

Mine is waiting for it's cleaning. I wonder if I can crank it manually to close the valves. It's in no shape to start right now lol. IMG_20200303_201427.webp

You can via the crank pulley. Just grab a breaker bar or something and slowly turn the pulley clockwise. As long as the tranny is in park it should spin freely.

For the record the plastic piece you guys remove is called the surge tank. The intake manifold is the next part down.

Yeah, the FSM labels it that way. Sorry.

Edit: nevermind.
