I Miss a Manual Transmission

So, manual gate doesn't fly for you. I can like the paddle shifters and use them 99% of the time. A third pedal isn't necessary. But you want a stick and a box. "Nothing in life has any business being perfect." Hah.

In 2017 Chevrolet had the sedan called the SS. It had a manual. That is the only sedan that I can think of with a manual that is similar in size dimensions to the Stinger. It was similar to the Pontiac G8 of which I owned for 10 years before buying my Stinger. Save the Manuals!
Yes this was the re-badged Australian Holden Commodore. One of our home built muscle cars with a powerful V8. High spec versions will be collectors items over here in the future since GM decided to close Holden last year and they are no more. :notworthy:

Hey... I just noticed, our nationality flags have disappeared from our avatars. What gives?

Yeah, I noticed that yesterday.

I'm still holding on to my 2000 FRC Vette patching it together to keep a manual, there is also my 5 speed '87 Ranger.
I will have to fight not taking a good look at the 400z. First sport car I drove was a 1974 260z 2+2 then I purchase a 2000 350z and later a 2008 370z; both were sold and I've regretted it.

I thought of keeping my '94 Voyager when I got the Stinger; for two reasons: a good beater for winter driving, and five on the floor (super rare), which made it fun to drive: I'd been "resto-rodding" the Voyager, intending, until the Stinger came along, to keep it for forever. Sometimes, like right now, I wish that I could go for a spin or run errands in it: but, that's what the Stinger is for. Hah. :D

I still have my 02 corvette Z06 but miles are almost at 100,000 so I have been thinking about upgrading to a newer vehicle with a manual for a weekender. Researching new mazda miata's and the fiat spider 124. They are small so I don't know if i can get comfortable in one from a seat perspective. My wife daily drives a 2008 miata hardtop with the auto. She loves miatas. This is her 2nd one. I would miss the power of the Z06 but the stinger feels faster than my corvette. Miatas will always have manuals. Save The Manuals!

There is no way in a rational world that Honda will not give that same car to Acura to dress up in adult clothing. That's one thing that's keeping me from buying anything today.

On top of that, it would also have a dual clutch transmission. And a DCT (specifically VW's DSG or else Porsche's PDK) is the perfect transmission, by far.

I think there's hope for something like this. First, an Acura presentation to dealers last year included a new "compact sedan" coming for 2022 with a Type-S version. Presumably, this is an ILX replacement, and it seems logical the Type S would get the Civic Type R's engine. A couple years before that, Honda said it would be releasing CTR variants to emphasize the "GT" aspect of the car, which to me seems like an Acura with similar performance hardware but more luxury and a mellower appearance.

We're in the same boat, because I want to learn about this Acura compact Type S before buying anything.

A couple other MT points: it's gone from both the G70 and Accord, so MT is almost completely extinct in sedans larger than the Civic class. At least it was--but now we have Cadillac's CT4 and CT5 Blackwings, which will BOTH be available with MT. So, if one wants a Stinger-like beast with MT and has the resources, one of these would be sweet.

I'm basically resigned to getting AT in my next car, even though I know I'd miss MT. But, TBH, the traffic around downtown Philly has become so brutal that I might not mind AT that much. For awhile I had a 2010 Ford Fusion V6 alongside my MT Acura TSX, and I discovered myself reaching for those Ford keys more than I expected, and Ieventually realized I was probably taking the path of least resistance with AT for the Philly rush hour.

I am in the same boat. I sold my 2006 Acura TL 6-speed last week on Craigslist and just bought a 18 stinger GT1 on Saturday.. So far love it but miss the 3rd petal for the daily driver. Everyone said just use the padel shifters but it’s not the same. All I have driven since 2006 is a manual do this is a huge change for me. I do have a 93 300zx twin turbo manual as a weekender/ track car to help satisfy the itch however.
