I went with G-max AS on mine, 18sx255. My thought is it's my back-up AutoX car, if it's just pissing rain, I'll take the stinger. If it's a little wet or damp, I'll still try the PS4S on the 1LE. There was somewhere where people were arguing that high performance summer tires are also great in the rain, but IME, these hydroplane super easy. Not as easy as my GY Supercar3 tires, holy crap, but you gotta go specifically for a performance RAIN tire if you want the wet performance...or most general all seasons.

hmmm so you are saying that I should buy for dry performance, if it is 100% going to rain, then I should bring my DSW06s all seasons? That actually makes sense. Looking at the wet stopping speed, its stops 10 whole feet shorter than the UHPs, and an additional few feet shorter than Max Summer tires. And look at the Wet Salom/Lap times too, the DSW06s crush all of the UHPs/Max, including Michelin PS4s

great idea! If you got them then why not bring them. Same concern for me although PS4S do well enough in the wet to still have a good time. Heading to VIR in about 6 weeks, and I only have the one set of rims/tires so hopefully the weather holds!

My absolute favorite summer tires are ( don't have em since I can't justify the need & price ),
Amazing to drive on ( my friend has a set on his M5 ) and the tire itself is SO incredibly light compared to other tires of the same size !
As for wheels, OEM vs. lightweight forged alloys, I'm all for ditching the OEM wheels.

Racing in the rain on a road course (24 hour of Lemons at Autobahn in Joliet IL) was one of the most humbling experiences I've ever had in a car. I did an agonizingly slow 180 spin on the very first turn of my very first lap in a 1995 Firebird. LOL
Any decent performance street tire will provide an overall similar experience, as you won't be setting any lap records anyway. You'll learn a lot about car control and balance at lower limits on wet pavement, and how to find better grip in the turns outside the regular racing line. I wouldn't want to race on a soaked race course all the time, but it was helpful to my driving ability to get the experience.

One of the most fun track days I've ever had was when there was solid rain the entire day. Medium speed sliding all day was beyond words!

Yes, I should have added that once I got comfortable with where to find grip on the track, and finding the new lower limits of adhesion, it became quite fun to be out there for multiple laps. The lightened Firebird was so tail happy, that it was a constant dance with the throttle, brakes, and steering to keep it pointed the right way down the track. An AWD Stinger with stability control would've been boring by comparison, but quite a bit faster!
