It's over 100 degrees here in sunny Texas, and the AC in my black 2017 Optima is so cold after 5 minutes it gets uncomfortable and I have to turn it down. And that's with the car parked in the sun.

Is the Stinger's air that good? That's a must for me!

It has been in the 100's here in Sacramento and my Stinger's AC is freezing me to death.

Air works great, I have found if you run AC and get it cool, you can then switch AC Auto off, then switching to defrost and low blowers, they will continue to blow out cool air without using the AC. I keep it around 67 degrees without having to use any AC.

Stinger is about the same size as the Optima. I see no reason why Kia would have made any changes to the climate control between the two models.

I live in Phx where it has been routinely north of 110. It’s just as cold if not colder than my Optima. It’s great!

Came out to this just now. Fired her up, hit Auto AC, flipped on the seat coolers, and in 3 minutes or so, it was pleasant and cool inside. Great AC system, though the engine fan sounds like a jet when it's running.

In most modern cars, as with the Stinger, the air conditioner is tied to the defroster and will cycle the compressor. This is what removes the moisture from the air that fogs up the windows. It can be used in the summer time, but it will function the same as the air conditioning. The only difference is that the vent opens to fresh air only rather than recirculated and the airflow is directed at the front and side windows.

I agree that the functioning of the air conditioning is wonderful. The cooling is helped even more by having the windows tinted in my car.

3m crystalline tint and stinger ac on max, car gets comfortable 3-5 min after starting. Helps even more if you're driving vs running the ac with the car on idle. This may be because the ac heat exchanger works better at speed vs parked car and depending on the radiator fan to pull air through.

On this topic, I wish the US cars came with remote start. My wife's 2017 mdx has it thought we would never use it, but it's been used almost daily this summer.

You can get it installed at the dealer. Use it every chance I get while it's hot as hell outside.

Ah, that's why you want auto start. Sometimes the obvious escapes me.

Another thumbs up for the Stinger climate control system!

I'll probably get around to it, the part is about $400 looks pretty plug and play since it looks like standard equipment on canadian cars, just something I wish came with the car since it already came with so many other standard features.

So the AC is actually running when I'm using this? I've always wondered because the AC light isn't lit. For some reason I've always been ocd about using as little AC as possible to improve performance I guess. Kinda silly

You said it, this definetly made a difference in small 4 cylinder econo boxes, but you're talking about using up at most a couple of hp's to run the ac, so you're probably not going to feel a difference. Might make a fractional difference in fuel economy, but again probably not significant enough to know.. :)

-4c here yesterday morning so AC was not required, but heated seat was like driving to work wrapped in an electric blanket....lol.

You would think, but we've seen some other systems that don't seem to be the same between the two cars!

The AC in the Stinger is great. Tint also really helps, but nothing beats being able to aim all 3 center vents at your face, instead of being permanently aimed towards a non-existent passenger.

As for the mention up there about AC and Power, the car shuts off AC under heavy load. Set it to exterior air and try flooring it when it's humid. You'll get gross sticky air almost immediately. I think it's been a thing for a while in lots of cars, my old 11 Fusion, 09 Mazda 3 and 17 Sedona all did it.

Texas here also. The AC works great on the Stinger and the cooled seats are amazing.
