How to avoid blown spark plugs in your tuned Stinger

Yeah I guess I will need to "invest" in a good set of swivels and extensions so I can do this myself as well.
Yeah, the spark plug thread on here has a few great posts on what you need to do the work easy. It recommended 2 swivels to be able to work with the passenger side middle plug which is a huge pain.

Awesome, that sounds very helpful! I think this is the thread you are referring too:

HKS are excellent although, expensive. One bit of advice I was given but hadn't really thought of was using an actual "torque wrench" to tighten the plugs.....The "quarter turn" method is a tried/true method but tightening to recommended torque is almost as important as proper gap. I just happen to have the 2.0 and it takes longer to properly gap the plugs than it takes to physically change them in the engine........

Sorry 3.3 owners....."pay to play"

If anyone managed a 5.7 -3rd gen ram (16 plugs and a ill conceived master brake cylinder) a v6 kia is a piece of cake

Hi everyone! Today I installed spark plugs that are gapped at 0.022…it took a few hours but was fun. I appreciate all of the tips!

Is there a recommended burn in period for the spark plugs?

2019 Stinger AWD GT2

Thanks!

no. there is no break in period with spark plugs....just moving parts....

We got everything buttoned up, set it to map 3 on the JB4, and proceeded to try to drive the wheels off. That was over 2 years ago, zero issues. So...no

Man, so much history to catch up on here. First of all, my HKS plugs are in the mail and I will be installing them myself, properly gapped, this weekend.

The only performance mods I have are JT intakes and a JB4 (with EWG wires but those wires are not installed).

I did a few pulls on map0 with expected results. IATs around 60-70 deg, Costco 92 Octane.

Map1 pulls also look clean with no ing-2-6 pull back, no obvious stuttering. IATs around 60-70 deg, Costco 92 Octane.

Map2 pulls see some limited ing2-6 pull back but not much, only 2.3... in 3rd gear, no obvious stuttering. IATs around 60-70 deg, Costco 92 Octane.

1) So... why am I not noticing any misses from spark blow out on map2? Would that show up somehow in the JB4 maps? With all the discussions here I was expecting to feel it on map2 with certainty. The impression I had from the talk here was 'don't even think of running map1 without plugs first'. So noticing nothing on map2 has me wondering if this accepted threshold has overly tightened over time here. Should we just stay with stock plugs until we notice an issue?

2) Why is everyone going 2 heat ranges cooler with their HKS plugs instead of 1 for relatively mild mods? Like, K8 doesn't even carry the M40IL. If you go too cold and it will lead to shorter plug life span (foul sooner) and potentially start issues (.

My understanding is that running stock gap on map 2 (or 1) might ruin your coils over time, as they have to work much harder to generate the spark.

Then you'll eventually get misfires and have to replace coils and plugs to solve it, which is much more expensive than just changing plugs.
