How not to buy a Stinger at crazy dealership....almost $9000 add on and markup

I have honestly never seen a dealer re-print the factory sticker. I would run screaming from that place anyway if I walked up and saw they did something weird like that. It's sad to see dealers doing this.....

@mldavis2 I've complained to Kia USA on 5 different dealerships and have not heard a word back from them at all. But when I praised the dealer I bought from I got a call back in less than 48 hours........ Go figure.

Thats awesome, and hopefully will stop this bullsh!t of the dealers adding 'Market Adjustment' or some other nonsense.

I want to say "What market JACKASS?! The car was JUST RELEASED and I'm not funding your next whore house party or sales trip!" (which are usually one in the same)

Don't think that Kia isn't aware of those practices and isn't listening. They don't have direct control over what a dealer tries to charge for a car, but they can sure make things uncomfortable if they know the dealer is running customers away or making them angry. And I would suspect they would put some serious pressure on any dealer that is borderline fraudulent trying to charge for air in the tires, a steering wheel and windows.

$499 for Nitrogen? Jeesh, we must not be doing something right. All jokes aside, I feel sorry for anyone who would agree to something like this.

So today I asked in person how they could put $499 for nitrogen on a sticker with a straight face and the answer was just as crazy as the price. " The $499 is for nitrogen and the spare, as the cars are shipped without a spare" I assume that if this is true that all dealers would have this charge or if partially true, the tires are provided in another way by KIA.

@ghettozoo, stay the hell away from that dealer. Total B.S.

I'd gladly rather have a repair kit and a membership for AAA instead of the nitrogen fill! Downright criminal!

I was in Clemson and stopped at the Anderson Kia dealer to see colors and stock and was shocked to see the add on sticker, $warranty care $1195, paint/interior protection $895, wheel locks $75 nitrogen $499, more add on the list but the kicker was the line below "market modification $4995". WOW! I am surrounded by dealerships with plenty of inventory and this is the only one not listing MSRP. It is like landmines, you never know where they may turn up. I have seen doc fees as high as $699, pinstripes $199, nitrogen $499, carpet mats (yuk) $299, etc....
Find another dealership

Well, after driving two Genesis coupes, I was "stung" when I saw the car and even more so when I took the test drive. Having driven a "modern" Hyundai, I had no problem giving the Kia a shot. Then I started dealing with the dealerships and how Kia rolled out the car, and I am now pulling away from making the purchase. The main reason I keep reading the forums is for some sign of hope in the purchase/availability process but I read more stories like those mentioned above. I have almost decided to keep my current car and wait for something else. If Kia had made available the color/trim Stinger I wanted in my area and the dealers would have been civilized, I'd already be driving one. I have purchased at least 8 new cars and the Kia experience was the worst sadly.
Hearing same thing about Kia dealers. Will probably pass on a brand new one and wait for someone to sell a low mileage used one.
Any GT2 owners ready to sell?
Prefer white or ceramic gray with the red Nappa leather!

Persistence and patience is key.

One dealer by me still have their entire stock, to include a yellow one that was priced at $78K at one point, and all others are "juiced" $10K. Clearly no market when the continue to just sit.

If you really want the car then know your bottom price and stick to it. I got my Yellow GT2 and was able to remove all but $500 of almost $3k in add ons and $5k of market adjust. The last $500 was for the tint (still criminal, i know) but the GM basically said he would lose the sale over the last $500 so i felt i was at the bottom price. Ended up at invoice + $500 and then did the lease cash followed by buyout.

Again, persistence and patience is what is needed.

Its funny, i get lots of questions from people on the car and when the ask "any downsides?" my "just the dealers" answers always gets a chuckle.

Best of luck

You can also tell that this is a dealer-created fake Moroney sticker because they mis-spelled "Subset Yellow."

Someone called me on the fact that dealers cannot alter the Moroney sticker. That is probably true, but they sure as hell can print their own as this picture clearly shows.
subset yellow ---- ahahaha
