Background:

Seems like there's a rare issue across the industry with GPS location accuracy when using phone-based navigation apps. It seems even cars NOT equipped with navigation still provide GPS location to phones connected via CarPlay, and possibly AA, but that can break and incorrect location is reported.

We have a member here having this issue, so I am just curious to gather some numbers on how Stinger owners find their way.. :)

I've never had any issues using Android Auto/Google Maps.

I use AA with Waze exclusively.

Even when I know my route I still use it for traffic rerouting. It saves me from sitting in bumper to bumper traffic a few times a week.

Around here, you have to check traffic any time you're going anywhere that you need to get to on time. I still pull up Waze even if I'm not using it to navigate, for the LEO notifications most of all.

I use the built in unless it doesn't have the address I'm looking for, then i use AA with waze

The trouble with the built in nav is that it takes forever to type in and even then it cant find location so im having to use google maps on phone to get there. KIAs nav is crap, hyundai much better.

I only use my phone to check the traffic on my route. other than that I use the build in and never had any issues

BuiltIn and turn off Display.
Using Headup Display
Same for the most part. If I'm going long distances I will use AA / Waze because I want to know about speed traps. If it's local / city navigation I will use the built in because it's soooo much better having it on the HUD. Plus, I probably won't have an opportunity to go over the speed limit so Waze is pointless.

Same here. On long trips I use AA, for city destinations I use the built in nav.

I use both. Sometimes the built in NAV is nice because it displays in your HUD. Sometimes CarPlay/Waze if I want to know road conditions. Hazards on road, cops, etc...

I like that the traffic is shown on the built in NAV using RDS. Very nice!

I use the built-in nav as much as possible because it's linked to the car and it's more convenient than balancing my phone up somewhere where I can see it. And the screen is bigger, too.

And AV8R, don't type addresses in ... speak them, it's much better and quicker!

One of these fine days built-in nav units will be as good as phone nav ... where you can just spit out an address or a place name, or a category of places, and it will immediately find what you want and start taking you there. That's my only complaint about built-in nav, that it's slower and less "conversational" than the internet-based phone nav. So maybe when universal internet comes we'll be there.

 ???

Umm, Mike... if you plug your phone up you can use Android Auto or Apple Carplay on the car's screen for navigation. You don't have to balance or hold the phone or use the phone's screen.

I don't know about Carplay but Android Auto uses Google's assistant, so you can say or ask it to go pretty much anywhere and it will understand you and give you the quickest available route with construction zones, traffic jams, and nearby police shown on the car's screen.

You can also ask it to Google random things while you drive, play specific music, make calls, send texts, etc. just as it would if you were using it in the house.

Based on your post you should definitely try it out. I think you will be amazed.

I check for moss on trees and in the night the stars guide me :)

Android Auto.

Nav is for millennials....

The car practically drives itself with the Lane Keep Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control so I just let it take me wherever it thinks I need to go.

I use both, depending on where I am. Local I'll throw it in my phone, long distance I'll use the car navigation for the HUD, and many other great features it has
