Plus, if Kia actually makes a car that is as good as its BMW equivalent and you still buy the BMW its more likely you paid extra just for the badge. And we know what assumptions (fair or unfair) people will make as a result.

Watching the extensive discussions around the KIA badge and all the options for replacements I would think it must be more than justified to pay a hefty extra just for the BMW badge - it makes such a difference

I think he means names like Lincoln MKZ suck compared to the full name, like Lincoln Mark Z. Or Cadillac STS instead of Cadillac Seville (Touring Sedan). Full names as opposed to shortened, three letter (more or less) abbreviations...
