How bad really is the mpg on the Stinger GT

The Stinger basically has everything I want in a car. The gt2 has all the features I’m looking for, But the v6 seems to be crazy on gas. I currently drive a 2011 Sorento which is also v6 but I’m not sure it uses as much gas as the stinger. The gt-line although been fast enough and having good mpg doesn’t come with the luxury features the gt2 has. Do you guys think I’d get better mpg in the stinger v6 than my current Sorento? Or should I just stick to the 2022 gt-line

If you are buying a Stinger GT, you have to know that car has a healthy appetite for gas. And, you will need to pay for premium gas, as well. It is one of the few drawbacks of owning a Stinger. Hard to own a performance vehicle and not eat gas.

Where can I see my lifetime MPG?

good question. I've never seen the term before. maybe they are referring to 'accumulated info' screen showing average mpg? if you never reset accumulated info the total miles stops recording at 99,999 but everything else keeps adding to the totals, including in this case your total mpg average.

I used to write down gals and calculated mpg at every fill-up. From that, I could figure out "lifetime" mpg. Quit doing that a few cars back.

Like the poster above, I enter the details after every fillup. They have apps for this too. I find it easier to just record the mileage on the receipt, enter it into a spreadsheet when I get home then toss the receipt.

Thought I'd chime in, because all my Stinger friends think I have a hybrid or I drive like a grandma. I average about 530 - 570 km on a tank (Canadian eh) on my '23 GT Elite. Regularly averaging 22-23 MPG with very mixed 50/50 city and highway driving. My friends struggle to go past 450 km on a tank apparently, and some barely squeak past 400 km but I reckon they are very spirited during their drives.

On several road trips, I have come very close to exceeding 700 km on a tank (see photo attached for my best). While the trip computer says one number, my actual calculated fuel consumption worked out to around 8.1 L/100 km or just under 30 MPG. Considering the car only has a 60 liter tank, I am quite satisfied with the fuel consumption. It's on par or better than my previous car, which was an '07 TL Type-S.

P.S. The photo attached was in September during a fall trip to the Yukon. The car now has just over 28,000 km hehe...

I average around 15 MPG or less because I have a very short commute to work (less than 4 miles). Plus I have a lead foot on the freeway

I have a mostly freeway commute that flows with traffic - no stop and go but also no opportunity to gas it. Get about 21 mpg average. On longer trips can get 29-30 mpg pretty easily, but that comes down fast with spirited driving. These are actual numbers, not the 1.0 to 1.5 mpg extra the car gives you.

My tuned stinger has the better gas efficiency than and it’s faster than all of them.

I agree. My Stinger gets right around the same MPG/Range as my old G6 did, with over 100 FT/LBS and over 100 HP more than said G6, and the Stinger is also about 500lbs heavier. A comparably priced Charger gets significantly worse MPG on paper.

I'm sure it's been studied - anyone have any stats regarding choice of wheel / tire affecting mileage? OEM is 225/255, some were 225 square, IIRC. I'm currently running 245/285 PS4S on 18" Enkeis. I know Tire Rack in their tests shows something like 1-3% difference between tires at the same size - I'm sure going up to larger sizes also doesn't help, so I am guessing I could easily see 5-10% improvement by going to fuel-efficient 225s square?

Also, AWD will generally have lower mpg than RWD due to the extra friction losses. Probably 5-10% as well.

But man, it's SO much fun to drop the hammer on map 3/4 (E30 mix) and not worry about pavement condition..
