HELP! A/C Noise

Yes, brought it to dealer and found an “internal defect in HVAC blower motor”. That was fixed today with no issue, noise is gone and no damage to my dash or console or new rattles so far as a result of the repair.

Thanks for posting the fix! Mine is also making that sound, especially when I'm driving fast and making turns. Sometimes it only makes the sound when the steering wheel is turned. So odd. I also experienced some more weird things from this like:
- a slight mildew/aquarium smell the first 30seconds my AC is turned on after the car is parked for more than a couple hours
- some condensation/water dripping into the passenger side, where their left foot would be while sitting, closest to the center console

My plan is to take to the shop to look at the defect in HVAC blower motor and to the lines in the AC to see what's going on with the small and leaking. I'll post whatever fixes they do for this too

Actually the noise is back, so its not the blower. I need to bring it back to deal. T noise hoes away when i rev to more that 1000rpm, so its a squealing belt in the compressor i suspect.

since i stopped using the a/c in the fall, i didn’t bother to bring it back to the dealer, but now I’m using the a/c and the noise is there. Anyone manage to have their dealer fix this?

Old thread, bumping with my experience. Was able to duplicate at the dealership, was told that noise is the result of freon being pushed into the system - and normal/expected.

As someone especially sensitive to high pitch noises, this is frustrating.

Every car has an a/c and I’ve never heard this noise in any other car…

Hi All - I've seen a few owners find the solution to this sound. Its typically the HVAC Air Inlet Door Actuator (Kia (97162-1JAA0)). This part regulates the flow of are coming in and out of the vehicle, behind the dash. It can make that whistling noise if its clogged or has dirt/dust in the part. K5 owners had experienced the same issue
