Does anyone know if I step down from dynamic bending headlights to not dynamic bending, if I will get a code? I need to replace both headlights and I found the non dynamic bending headlights at a considerably cheaper price. Like $500 less for the pair so I'm considering replacing them without the dynamic bending. Anyone run into this issue or have done this swap?

Only $250 difference per headlight assy?
Seems cheap enough to me!

If spend the extra $500 to keep the DBB feature and ensure no trouble codes.

What are the prices you found and from where?

Ebay. As little as $450 without confirming if they are dynamic bending to $750 shipped per light with dynamic bending. I need both headlights. I found one for $450 and one for $600 non bending. That's $1050 for both as opposed to $1500 for the pair.

Does anybody know how to distinguish between dynamic bending and non dynamic bending from looking at the housing? I’m starting to find out that some sellers are just putting adaptive and don’t know whether they’re adaptive or not and don’t have the part number to verify it.

What happened? Why do you need to replace both headlight assemblies??

Purchased car with undisclosed flood damage. Bought it online. No recourse but to fix the car. Both headlamps low beam and high beam are not functioning. Led module began to corrode almost instantly. Everything is is working flawlessly at the moment

Welcome. This discussion has been moved to the Kia Stinger Lighting forum...

So it seems no one knows how to distinguish between adaptive and non adaptive from the outside. I really need help with this. Just about every seller on eBay is unaware of the adaptive, non-adaptive option and are failing to post that in the description. I am making them aware of the option as I ask them to confirm it. I'd hate to dish out $650 to save a couple of hundred and plug it in and lose the entire $650.

Isn't the left one the base halogen version and the right one the LED adaptive version. Is there any other type in between these?

There is the LED type without the Dynamic Bending Lights

I have never seen the LED without the DBL, but I am told it exists..

There probably is a physical difference, but I do not know what it is.

I can share a picture of my DBL headlights, but what I needed is a good image of the LED non DBL version

I found this on eBay, has photo‘s for comparison & also shows a part number on the back.

If only I could see the non bending from the backside to compare with mine and see if I could spot the difference. There has to be some difference on the outside as there has to be some extra mechanism to assist the projectors bend. I just can’t find a complete picture of the backside to compare it with. Or maybe some extra part number on the casing that helps identify bending and non bending. Someone please help. I have found two lights for $500 that I can’t confirm are bending.

I have been on that site for over a week. The part numbers aren't helping me. None of the sellers that are posting lights on ebay know the part number of the lights they're posting. Kia only puts part of the part number on the lights, leaving out the 3 most important digits which are 220 for bending vs 120 for non bending the entire part number being 92102-J5220 for bending vs 92102-J5120 for non-bending

I found out how!!!
Remove the black cap and if the projector moves it’s adaptive.
Finally!!!

In the event anyone else needs to know, I found a thread that the guy broke the code on how to identify the lights. There a sticker on the that says j12 or j22 plus either L or R for left and right. The J22 are dynamic bending and the J12 are non-dynamic bending. so J22R would be right side dynamic bending. J12R would be right side non dynamic bending. J12L, J22L would be left side.

I am going to guess upgrading to bending lights isn't as simple as buying the better lights and plugging them in? :-)

You are right in cursing that. It has a leveling sensor in the rear and another sensor in the front with its own ecu. Not even worth considering the upgrade.
