As there has been so much discussion on paint chips and now headlights I thought I would start a poll exclusively for the headlight issues. Please do not add comments about the rest of the body this is just for headlights and elsewhere on bumpers. Stone chips do not apply here either. I am more concerned about the headlight surrounds rubbing the weak paint so rock chips won’t affect this. If the joins of the bumper to body are affected as well then tick the box.

For clarity on my answers: Sunset Yellow with other paint issues. Bumper chipping around headlight too. Also, perhaps due to rock impact while driving, my bumper has chips along the front and side bottoms. Build date—12/17. 3000 miles, mostly New Jersey highway miles.

Paint quality issues only no rock chips damage. You would have them early rather than later so you can’t countbrock chips. It’s mainly the headlight surrounds I want to focus on as they are least likely to be a result of stone chips.

Interesting , already a build date trend is showing that matches the paint issues vs build date thread.

Yes. I would not be surprised if we see similar trends to those that have appeared in other threads/polls regarding paint concerns.

All the more proof for those that want a claim against Kia.

You know that the headlight assembly issue is caused by the extreme extended design? This is where style has come to. And I doubt that the Stinger is alone in this. It is just so cool looking that it's too sexy for its lights! I doubt there is a fix for this. First year Stingers will always be known for constant upkeep on the paint below the headlights. A little touch up paint goes a long ways.

If the paint adhesion ceases to be a concern, then at least the paint won't chip/flake off; it will simply wear down. And, being directly under the edge of the headlight assembly, will not even show up unless you remove the headlight assembly; then there will be a small worn spot, and that's all. So, if Kia is going to fix the visible headlight chipping issue, they're going to have to upgrade their painting process. (I trust that Kia reads these posts. They would be stupid not to.)

I have flaking around both headlights. Minor but annoying. Merlin, above, implies that there probably is no fix for the rubbing. Is that what everyone else understands is the case? I'll also ask my dealer tomorrow when I go in for an oil change.

Thanks for posting this survey! I hadn't thought the adhesion issue through and had voted "No" in the other survey.

Cheers

Yeah, a "no" option with build date will give us a better idea on %, better pinpoint impacted dates and amount of eye balls on the thread. 11/17 no headlight peel.
Ah, "no" added. I voted: late build date, no headlight chipping. (I've stated elsewhere that I THINK I can see a chip starting on the driver's side, but as for now that is unconfirmed, so "no" for the nonce ...)

I've removed everything not related to discussing the problem or results of the poll. Stay on topic!

I only checked "no headlight peel," not my color (snow white pearl) or build date (Nov 2017), since, given the design of the survey, wouldn't that make it look like there was a problem with that color/build date? Or am I just not awake yet this morning, and can't see he logic?

I clicked the build date, to give some indication as to how many late build dates might add to the "no" category. Or am I not awake yet this morning?

I have headlight rubbing around one headlight on Aurora Black Pearl

Mods - please add this color.

No headlight issues will skew results if you pick the build date. Thats why I did not want to put it in. Again please no more suggestions.

Good point, I checked black, Dec 17 and no issues but see your point. There's a lot of Dec17 checks but are those yes or no?

Pretty simple, please don't select a build date if you DON'T have the issue!
