Hello

I'm currently investigating options for running my dashcams whilst parked.

For those that have hardwired their Dashcam to run whilst the engine is off - has anyone had problems with the Stinger complaining about Battery Drain? I'm sure I read somewhere that the car can sense this (under some conditions?)

If you've used a battery voltage cut-off device (PowerMagic Pro, etc)...
A) What voltage are you cutting off at?
B) What sort of run-time are you getting before it shuts down?

If you are using a Cellink Neo (rechargeable battery) or similar on your Stinger...
A) What sort of runtime are you getting?
B) How long does it take to recharge in reality?
C) Hardwired or via lighter plug?

Thanks in advance!

I left the voltage on the BM pro default 12v but set the times shut off at 12 hours.

occasionally get a “accessory drain” message upon entering the car the next day, but never had any issue starting car... not like a low battery would behave.

THIS WILL EFFECTIVELY END Idle stop/go functionality as it is tied to battery strength among other variables. (Some might like this actually).

the only time it resumes is after a long trip where the alternator gets it filled.

love parking mode.

There's no stop&go hassle on Australian Stingers to begin with :D

Re the 'accessory drain' - did you wire the circuit back to the fuse box - or direct to the battery?

Never wired anything directly to the battery. Make sure it always has a fuse to cut power, otherwise, you may blow something else in the circuit.

I wired mine to an open fuse that has constant power (You can probe the points with a multi-meter (make sure it's set to voltage mode). I left my car off on a vacation for 12 total days, came back, and the car started right up. Most dashcams only set to record if they detect movement, so it's not going to be recording all the time, and these things draw mere watts of power in general, it won't drain the battery unless left for weeks on end.

I get the battery drain notice only when the car is left for at least a day or so, but I think that's just a precautionary message that plays if it detects the battery being used even if the battery still has plenty of charge.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

Thx cowboy. I have been wondering why for the last 2 months my idle stop go was not working as usual.
Took the car to the dealer to check and they did not find anything wrong - not sure they checked the battery charge level.
So now I am just going to trickle charge the battery over the weekend and see if idle stop go feature becomes functional again...

Update: I've gone the PowerMagicPro route. Time will tell as to what parking-mode run times are actually like.

The Rechargeable battery-pack option was canned due to long recharge time required. I don't think it was going to be able to recharge within my ~20min commute to/from work, granted I'm then parked up for hours whilst it goes flat again.
