so I recently went to Keffer only and they gave me numbers like this :/
Their sticker price is 4k more than the MSRP which they say they are Dealers addendum , that's BS.
So they inflated the price, offered a discount to get BACK close to the MSRP and I bet they said "we are offering you a 25% discount, no one else around offers that high of a discount, blah, blah blah." Basically they are starting at sticker price and seeing who will take the deal. They already know they are the only one in the area with the color you must have. That gives them leverage. Go test drive an audi s5, a BMW 340, and a dodge charger rt. When talking to another kia dealer make the stinger sound like an afterthought to check it out. The Kia dealer will know you are not locked into one car and one color. After driving it compare it to the other cars while talking. It is all mind games.
The VA dealer that said no leases across state line likely does not want to do it and does not have someone on staff to do it.
Someone may have more facts but I cannot find any laws preventing it. Your best bet is widen your search, look for Kia dealers that are 50-75 miles from the NC border. These dealers likely have someone on staff that handles NC purchases and leases. I live in Delaware and I was dealing with dealers in NJ, PA, MD, and DE looking for a car. I picked ones that were an hour from the DE border and every one of them said they could handle the transaction.
If you have a car to trade in bring that up later. If you get to the point of talking about about your trade in, inflate your payoff by $2k when talking. If you give them permission to run a credit check this step does not work. Get your actual payoff. Then print out something that looks similar but without any letterhead on it. Bank name, estimated payoff amount and a date. Tell them YOU printed up AN estimated payoff.
I still remember the look on the sales manager face when we wrote down the figures, agreed to everything, and then realized during the bank payoff confirmation call, he had to reduce the final price by $2k. I do this and many other things just to F with them and do the same mind games they do (take calls/text messages from other dealers while negotiating with the person in front of me, be that person that says I want the tire protection; extended warranty; lifetime diamond seal car wax done before I buy it; chip, tear, ding, dent, stain insurance; etc then at the last moment tell them I don't want them. Why-- because I know I am buying a car from someone--it might be them it might not.
If purchasing get your own loan lined up. That way it is a cash purchase and you control everything. I was lazy and did not do that. Still got a great rate. The dealership wrote down the wrong cash down-payment and came back with a crazy high monthly payment and purchase price. When I told him he missed a zero on the down payment he said are you sure? I reached down, grabbed my briefcase, opened it up, did a quick count and said yep I'm sure. Go ask your GM if he's sure he wants to sell a car today or if I should respond to the text message I just got from your competitor.
2019 GT2 AWD out the door after 2.5 hours. Bottom line i got a deal that I thought was fair and it was not MSRP. Oh yeah the car, it is definitely comfortable. I am 6'3" a big guy. Does my head brush the door frame area when I get in, sure does. I have head room when in the car. 3 to 5 hours later driving and I have no issues. Lumbar support, thigh support and multiple
seat adjustments make it happen.
