I am planning to get the Stinger GT2 but the color I want is not available in GT2 and there aren't ant 2020 GT2 left in North Carolina. I am trying to figure out what much of a difference does GT1 makes vs GT2.
I want to know the real time first hand experience of the owners of those cars or if there is already thread , can someone point me to that too?
For me , I am a casual driver, I tend to take my car with my fiancé for longer trips(15-30)hrs and want to know how much difference of comfort does it come when driving either GT1 or GT2. is that really worth the upgrade?
I am fine on both the pricing so pricing is not an issue. Plus I drive in snow too so how much of a problem is to do drive and RWD.
The dealers around me have for the color I want is :
1. GT2 RWD
2. GT1 AWD
3. GT1 RWD.

Your responses would really help me to figure out something.

I have an AWD GT2 and I specifically wanted AWD. I have driven a RWD car in snow with all-season tires and while you can definitely do okay, it can get a bit squirrely. I don't think I would want to drive a RWD car again in snow unless it specifically had snow tires.

Had a BMW with AWD and all-season tires and on the trip home from picking it up I drove through two blizzards (long trip) and not once did the car slip. Get the AWD.

As for GT1 Vs GT2, for me I wanted the HUD which meant GT2. I have had a few cars over the years and I never want a car with out the Heads-Up-Display.

The other extras that the GT2 has are nice. More adjustible seats, the Low-Beam assist (head lights turn when you turn the steering wheel), and the extra cameras around the car are also very nice.

If price is not an issue, get the GT2 and in AWD.

I would get a GT2 AWD the tech is great, love the HUD and all else that came with it. Better in snow.

I bought my prius (06) in Vegas, lived in phoenix, reason, phx dealers had a 5k desired car price added to it. Well worth the short flight and the drive home.

See if you can find one even if you need to travel a bit.

What color are you looking for?

Every car I buy I go for the gusto, the top of line for the tech etc. Never regretted it.

So I don't mind traveling and getting the car,
I am looking for Hi-chrome Red only 2020 model
But I was told I cannot do leasing from a different state and I didn't understand that why I cannot do that.
I am in NC and I don't mind traveling to nearby states by when I talked to someone from KIA in VA, they told me that.

GT2 AWD definitely way to go. I had to make many trips through PA, NY, and NJ area in the winter. Handled great. It is amazing how much of a traction difference AWD makes in rain or snow. The 360 camera makes parking the car a breeze. It also saved me several times from damaging the nose and curb rash. Steering Adaptable headlights give extra safety seeing more during a turn. Power hatch extremely handy. HUD is a great convenience and safety feature to keep eyes on the road.

Check keffer kia in NC.

As far as comfort goes, both are the same suspension and interior except for softer nappa leather in the GT2. I find my GT1 to be eminently comfortable for hours at a stretch. And at the end of the long day driving I am fine. The driver assist "nannies" come on the GT1 now; when I got mine they were optional. If I had them they would be turned off anyway. Only you can make your own deal breaker list of "must haves".

so I recently went to Keffer only and they gave me numbers like this :/
Their sticker price is 4k more than the MSRP which they say they are Dealers addendum , that's BS.

I am so confused to be honest, its going to be my first expensive car and I just don't want to go wrong anywhere and have to have that ride for next 3-4 years minimum.

I responded in your other thread about the price side of things. This will be more about AWD vs. RWD and GT1 vs. GT2.

First off I regret not getting AWD. The color scheme I wanted Grey with with white interior was EXTREMELY rare and so I had to go with the RWD to get it.

That being said I only regret going with RWD because at full tilt in launch mode it will lose traction. In all other normal driving you won’t know the difference at all.

Now in snowy or dusty snow conditions it might be totally different. However, you are probably going to need snow tires and a gentle pedal to really be able to drive even the AWD car in true winter weather. Clearance is probably going to be your biggest issue in real snowy conditions. In ice which we often get in NC nothing but chains are going to help.

I live in Eastern NC so we rarely get significant snow. If you are closer to the mountains or travel over the mountains often I can see the AWD model being desirable.

As far as GT1 vs. GT2, I think the GT2 is the only one to get. The all around view camera is just SOOOOO much better than the rear view only camera. The front side camera view is one of the best camera views I have seen. It allows me to park in an extremely tight garage without any issue.

I also think the “T” shaped “Fighter jet” shifter is just cheap looking in the GT1 model. The GT2 shifter is infinitely better.

The heads up display is great. I just couldn’t do without it now that I have it.

The lane keeping assist is a gimmick. I tried it several times and then just turned it off. It is more dangerous than a “safety feature”.

The extra seat adjustments are great and I really like the “Napa leather”.

The best advice I can give you is get the AWD GT2 in either a 2019, 2020, or 2021 model. They are all essentially identical. However, I would open up your choices on color. That is going to limit your ability to get a “deal” the most.

There are plenty of great colors and with most of the other colors you can now get the red interior.

Some dealers, if there is one available somewhere, can do a car swap to be able to sale a car. Have you asked for a agreeable dealer to search for one for you?

That's what "my" dealer did: on the spot, they called around locally until they found the color my wife insisted on; then did a swap while I waited in the showroom. :D

So you are the luckiest guy it seems or you got a good dealer to talk to. my Dealer is like so adamant about this is the largest dealership of Stingers, if we have that only we will have that , none around locally can have that.
lol I even gave him like 100 miles par there is a stinger GT2 hi chrome RED AWD available, he said that's not their sister dealership and won't be dealing with them, its like he wants me to get the GT2 RWD and finish up his stinger quota for the month.

Out of the I believe (7) additional 2019+ GT2 exclusive features, I wish for the powered hatch and 360 camera view the most.

The heads up display, dynamic headlights, nappa leather, shift by wire (no full-Manual mode) and heated rear seats aren’t something I wanted to pay extra for.

It seems getting deals on the gt2 trims is easier compared to early 2019 when I bought my 2019 GT1 Awd. There was about a 5-6k difference between the trims when I was looking and I was picky with the exterior/interior color & drivetrain which made my search more difficult.

I would go with the GT2 Awd if I was you.

So they inflated the price, offered a discount to get BACK close to the MSRP and I bet they said "we are offering you a 25% discount, no one else around offers that high of a discount, blah, blah blah." Basically they are starting at sticker price and seeing who will take the deal. They already know they are the only one in the area with the color you must have. That gives them leverage. Go test drive an audi s5, a BMW 340, and a dodge charger rt. When talking to another kia dealer make the stinger sound like an afterthought to check it out. The Kia dealer will know you are not locked into one car and one color. After driving it compare it to the other cars while talking. It is all mind games.

The VA dealer that said no leases across state line likely does not want to do it and does not have someone on staff to do it.
Someone may have more facts but I cannot find any laws preventing it. Your best bet is widen your search, look for Kia dealers that are 50-75 miles from the NC border. These dealers likely have someone on staff that handles NC purchases and leases. I live in Delaware and I was dealing with dealers in NJ, PA, MD, and DE looking for a car. I picked ones that were an hour from the DE border and every one of them said they could handle the transaction.

If you have a car to trade in bring that up later. If you get to the point of talking about about your trade in, inflate your payoff by $2k when talking. If you give them permission to run a credit check this step does not work. Get your actual payoff. Then print out something that looks similar but without any letterhead on it. Bank name, estimated payoff amount and a date. Tell them YOU printed up AN estimated payoff.
I still remember the look on the sales manager face when we wrote down the figures, agreed to everything, and then realized during the bank payoff confirmation call, he had to reduce the final price by $2k. I do this and many other things just to F with them and do the same mind games they do (take calls/text messages from other dealers while negotiating with the person in front of me, be that person that says I want the tire protection; extended warranty; lifetime diamond seal car wax done before I buy it; chip, tear, ding, dent, stain insurance; etc then at the last moment tell them I don't want them. Why-- because I know I am buying a car from someone--it might be them it might not.

If purchasing get your own loan lined up. That way it is a cash purchase and you control everything. I was lazy and did not do that. Still got a great rate. The dealership wrote down the wrong cash down-payment and came back with a crazy high monthly payment and purchase price. When I told him he missed a zero on the down payment he said are you sure? I reached down, grabbed my briefcase, opened it up, did a quick count and said yep I'm sure. Go ask your GM if he's sure he wants to sell a car today or if I should respond to the text message I just got from your competitor.

2019 GT2 AWD out the door after 2.5 hours. Bottom line i got a deal that I thought was fair and it was not MSRP. Oh yeah the car, it is definitely comfortable. I am 6'3" a big guy. Does my head brush the door frame area when I get in, sure does. I have head room when in the car. 3 to 5 hours later driving and I have no issues. Lumbar support, thigh support and multiple seat adjustments make it happen.

GT1 gets most of the features I care about. The T shifter looks kind of cheap though, and the 360 degree camera would be nice to have. I don't have a stinger - the GT1 has been what I am looking at though. There are some used GT2s around here, but they are 18 MY. I don't think the 18 MY had the 360 camera?

No it doesn't. Mine is still spotless after 31 months. The "T" is retro, part of that harkening back to the 60s and 70s Italian GT cars. (although I couldn't tell you if any of them actually had a "T" shifter or not :P, but the "T" shifter sure is from that time period)

You know the ironic thing is (well to me anyway) is I actually prefer the T shifter or the whatever you call that thing in the GT2. For some reason the shifter and its "shift by wire" handle just does not appeal to me. Call me old school I guess.

You mean GT1; the shift by wire shifter in the GT2 is a stub. Hah. :D

Yes, GT1. Sometimes my fingers cant keep up with the thoughts in my head and it comes out all wrong. :(

Does anyone know if the gt1 and the gt2 sound the same? I’m a big guy on sound and can’t find a direct answer.
