Just test drove the Genesis G70 and, while I appreciate the more luxurious appointments and shorter wheelbase, I just think it looks...well...ordinary - kind of like every luxury sedan out there.

For every day use, do you feel that the Stinger is simply too long? It *barely* fits in my garage and I am always parking in areas with small-ish stalls

Thanks for any real-world input!

Greg

To be honest I haven't found it's length to be an issue, having said that I'm glad it has 360 camera as it's so useful for checking surroundings.
Our garage is a large double garage and the Stinger fits in no probs with hubby's Ducati motorbike. Parking spaces at the shops or at work are no issue either.I admit occasionally it is nice to take the little Cerato hatch we have that gets into the small car park spaces and I don't have to walk far.
In the end it is what is comfortable and practical for you to manage. Good luck with your decision :)

I'm not used to driving a big car like the Stinger...Thank goodness for the rear camera. I also do old-school look back and side mirrors too. :p

I may invest in a 360 camera setup. For my peace of mind and overall safety.

It's long, but it's only slightly longer than the average mid-size SUV and definitely shorter than pick up trucks. The biggest thing is just getting used to the wheel path when manuvering in parking lots.

No issues so far, although admittedly I've only owned it for a week and driven it 550 miles. I have a tight garage but no issues.

To put it in perspective, I traded in a 2014 Mazda 6, which is actually an inch or so LONGER than the Stinger. Never had an issue with my 6 either.

I have a GT1 so I don't have the 360 camera and I haven't had any issues with it. I also try and park way away from everyone and everything tho. Or so close that my boss bitches at me for parking where I can see my car lol. You do adjust to the car pretty fast tho. I came from an 02 WRX so the Stinger is significantly longer than what I was used too.

I’ve been driving mine for around 15 months and I’m still getting used to the wheelbase. Curb rashed two wheels so far. Driving a Mustang first so long with it’s short wheelbase and also driving a Bronco and even my wife’s car all have a short wheelbase. A long wheelbase is taking getting used to

Switching from my F350 as my daily driver I find this just right, although I’m still struggling with how close the front end is to objects and curbs when parking even with the 360 camera.

so I guess it depends on what you’re coming from.

GT1 owner here (8 months) and while I haven’t curbed my wheels yet, I do find that I take turns very wide just because I’ve read about so many people curbing their wheels on here. I also rarely parallel park but back in to spots quite frequently as the backup camera is awesome. If you’re worried getting a GT2 with the 360 cam would be a better option.

In comparison the vehicles I drove before/occasionally drive now are a 03 mustang 101.5” wheelbase/ 183.5” length and a 05 Durango 119.5” wheelbase/200.8” length. The stinger is 114.4” wheelbase/190.2” length. The stinger feels long but the turning radius is solid and the safety nannies will keep you in check when parking.

Nope, not at all, so long as you know how the drive. The cameras and sensors allow me to get this car into spaces I wouldn’t have attempted before. I drive 1500 km a week in Toronto which is busy and tight at times, and never once has the thought of the car being too big crossed my mind.

Great feedback, thanks to all! Now...just to see what figure the dealership comes back with.

It is a 2019 GT1 with 8000 miles (lease return). I am hoping for under $35K for me to pull the trigger. Only Ceramic / Red out here (only about 5 in the entire state!)

I am also hoping they can mark it as a Certified Pre-Owned (that will probably get me the 10y / 10K mile warrantee)

Wish me luck.

I had vans before the Stinger; one a "mini" van Voyager, the other a 15 passenger Ford Club wagon. So, backing up and maneuvering was no adjustment in the Stinger! :D Parking: now, there the Stinger kicks my trash. You sit so low in it, and the hood and fenders curve out and down so far past the "skyline" that the driver can see, that eye-space coordination is a serious challenge (for me). It's taken a long time for me to drive within an "envelope" of invisible space allowance. I have to give myself extra room. Even now, half the time, when I park I am saying to myself: "That's about as close as I am going to get." And I expect to see eight, ten inches between the wheels and the curb: but instead, I've got a full foot and a half. Still! Well, better safe than sorry.

I’ve moved forward more than once after getting out and realized I’m sticking out into the fairway and have more room up front

I try to park at the right end of the parking stall row. That way I can see the curb forward out the driver's side window. And I pull up carefully until the curb is just starting to disappear behind the side mirror stem. Stop. When you use that guide point, the front bumper is c. half a foot or a bit less away from the curb. Perfect. :)

(edit to add: I am 6'3", so, looking more down on the side mirror stem will bring the curb closer in the juxtaposition I described. A shorter driver will need to "hide" the curb behind the stem in order to be as close as I get. Experiment using the driver's mirror as a marker till it works for you.)

I've also been taking wide turns as a precaution since I don't have the distance down yet. I'm better with the driver's side than I am with the passenger's side. When I'm driving I stay further away on the passenger's side too as I pass by objects. I'm getting pretty good staying centered in the lanes. Those BIG side mirrors come in handy. :D

When I'm parking frontwards I rely on the front collision warning. I have the setting on "Normal" and either stop when it flashes yellow and the beeps are persistent, or if I feel a little brave I stop when I'm just at the red warning. I'm getting within 6" to 12" before objects. Not bad I say. :)

Works for taller objects than a curb, but won't work at all trying to come close to a forward curb. You need some kind of visual reference point in order to avoid either cramming your front bumper over or into a curb, or leaving your car's pretty butt hanging out in the lane.

Aw darn I was afraid of that. Luckily for me I used my instincts and have avoided hitting the curbs. Those garage stoppers are scary! :(

I'll keep practicing and find a reference of sort. Thank you for the helpful tips!

I came from a 2003 Dodge ram, with the turning radius of an aircraft carrier. Parking the stinger is a breeze.

The Stinger isn't as long as one might believe, I thing the long hood and low seating position may give that impression. Sitting next to my '17 Optima Hybrid, they seem about the same length. The only annoying thing for me, is my AWD's turning radius is larger than the RWD version and as a consequence, when I switch between my Optima, I realize it when parking. I can do a much better and easier job of getting into/out of, a tight parking spot with the Optima, the Stinger takes a bit more work. If they had the heated steering wheel on the RWD car, I would have gone with that version. Personally, I want a bit more room inside the Stinger but that would certainly mean it would end up being a longer car. Once you learn the edges of the vehicle, you will be maneuvering this thing like a champ.
