Canada has a pre sale for the 200 GT's allocated to the country , I have order 110 , should be here early December . I've already bought the E badge for the hood and STINGER emblem to replace the Kia logo for the rear . Looking forward to getting the car !

Cheers

Congratulations westcoastGT!

Are there any US pre-sale orders out there yet?

Congratulations! I probably wouldn't sleep until after I drove it home from the dealership. :p

Thanks , I'm looking forward to getting it , I've been a BMW guy for 12 years and am fed up with quality and reliability issues . For Kia to be #1 on the JD Power IQ for 2 consecutive years makes a big statement for substance over brand imagery . Quality never goes out of style !!

Can you tell me what the E logo means, the car I sat in at the dealer had the E on the steering wheel, it had KIA on the front and Stinger on the back.

We have a discussion going on about the "E" badge:

You're seeing the Korean spec version of the Stinger. We'll be getting the KIA badge on the front and I believe the back. Hmm. I forget at this moment... But I'm pretty sure we're not getting the Stinger "script" here in the U.S.

Congratulations westcoastGT. Kia Canada did a great job with pricing and giving you almost* every option.

*Not sure if you get smart trunk with power opening

You cannot order anything in the US yet.

Can you tell me what the E logo means.

“‘Engineered by Excellence" is the core theme, along with:
  • Exclusive (for a select few)
  • Exquisite (sophisticated and sensitive)
  • Evolutionary (constantly evolving)

The front badge will look like this in the US:

The rear badges will look like this in the US:

Wheel badges will look like this:

And the steering wheel badge like this (flat-bottom on GT trims only):

OK then , sounds like all the answers for the questions are above , it seems like Kia Canada had a pretty good intro/launch strategy . They wanted a limited number of Stingers to "seed" the market , given the climate I think the AWD versions makes sense , Audi ,BMW and Merc sells tons of AWD here . Additionally in year 1 , they wanted all the cars to be GT V6's to drive the halo image for the brand .I'm hoping they come equipped with performance all season tires as well . My dealer just informed me my order is confirmed and that I'll be allocated a production # soon so I'll be able to follow the build .............wooo hooo !! ............oh and yes the GT Limited does come with the Auto trunk release , apparently they are 100% optioned out , no boxes left to tick ...........thats why I think they are such a great deal ( $25,000 less than a 440GC with similar options , and I could care less about BMW heritage etc , I've owned 9 of them , 8 of them V8s , and would never buy them again , love to support the underdog ! )

Cheers

Congrats West Coast!! Very envious and I think Kia Canada is taking a wise approach seeding the market. Hopefully Kia gets a 2.0T GTline for your lesser folks once the premium image has been established.

Thanks ! I'm sure they'll follow up with the 2.0 L in year 2 for sure , once the beta test is over and more than just the journalists are drooling over this car they'll release the other engine , for some purists the 2.0 L might be the better car !!

Ok now I am just pissed WestCoat...i did the currency conversion and Canada gets an AWD V6 GT for 35,806 USD!!!! WTF, I could actually afford one at that price and a 2.0T GTline would be under my budget. Are Canadian spec cars legal to purchase for US citizens? I am only a few hour drive from canada. I can just picture to conversation at customs...What is the purpose of your visit...To save 6,000 on the car of my dreams!!!! If I can not buy it, I may just have to move? Reeason you wish to become canadian citizen...To own a kia stinger!!!!

Interesting idea. Can you buy a car in Canada and then immediately get it registered/insured in the US?

Guys there are still 45 cars left on the pre sale program up here , and you're right about the exchange rate issue !! Usually Canadians get screwed on the exchange issue , on this one we win ! .................for a small "fee" ( hahahhaha ) I would be happy to register my friends from the US ......................just need a cheque for 5K or maybe I"'ll buy a few and "sell" them to you guys ??

I just googled this...
- obvious issue would be the odometer and speedo being in kilometers, which would hurt resale. I totally would not care for this car.
- a guy in seattle said he just had to get paperwork from nissan and audi north america to prove the cars pass us safety. They got an exemption for speedo since the center read out could be switched to mph and bright daytime lights were waived.
- taxes in state were credited for what was paid in canada
- one guy said the warranty was void, so that would be something to look at closely

What do others know about this?

There is also a tariff you'll have to pay to bring it across the border.
Also you may need to pay with cash. I doubt any US bank will give you a loan on a new car that is bought in Canada and has no warranty.
Might be tricky to get a US company to insure a car where they can't look the VIN up on their computer..

Sounds like more trouble than it's worth. I would never want to deal with all that, but I just wondered.

......................or move to Canada !

Just curious... how do you know there are only 45 cars left for the pre sale program in Canada? I placed my order back in September prior to the pre-order being available. Do you have any pricing info, my dealer had nothing to offer other than what the website indicates.
