• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Grumpy old Stinger Seller

Yeah, same voice you'd hear if you had voice direction (whatever it's called) engaged as you navigate. The very first thing I did, while my sales guy was showing me around inside the car, was have him select OFF; that shut the whiney bitch up (just channeling the seller here; he said he doesn't want "her" whining at him like some wife in the front seat). :D "Say a command", is all I've ever let "her" say to me.
.................so insensitive ! ........................Bawaaaaaa:laugh::laugh::laugh:

It talks?

I guess mine comes with that s#!t disabled..

I was looking at the pictures he posted for his car. I got to one and said ah S***! How come his front passenger seat has all the bells and whistles including the thigh extension switch! We dont get that in the US. I had to go thru the pictures again to realize why. Duh!

Hi all. First post.

Too funny. I joined the forum a few days ago but only just came across the Oz forum and this topic...

The ad's come down because I just bought that car. That's it in my avatar pic. It's on a truck at the moment on its way to me in the top end.

I test drove a Stinger at my local dealership and loved it.

Call me crazy but not only did I not test drive that car, I didn't even see it 'in the flesh'. Had a 'master check' done with RACQ - mechanical check, photos, test drive etc. Inspector said it was as close to a new car as you are gonna get except for the few stone chips. Said the leather was perfect and still smelled new. I figure with 6.5 years of warranty left as long as there is no unwarranted damage then its really not going to be a problem. The guy basically drives in straight lines over distances so the tyres are near new as well, Never been on a track or anything like that. Never had a warranty issue.

The guy was a pleasure to deal with. Straight shooter and no fuss whatsoever and really helpful with the transport company and pickup of the vehicle.

Very happy with the price and the purchase. Dec 2018 (MY19) for that money with less than 15k km is very good in my book :)

Looking forward to taking delivery in a couple weeks. Feels like an eternity though. In the meantime got Dr Colorchip on order and thinking about my re-badge and exhaust strategy.

Congrats! Looks like the car's gone from a "grumpy old Stinger seller" to an optimistic buyer. Show us some pics when you get it.

Well done sir. Welcome aboard. Enjoy.

Welcome Izzy. Mate, that is one cool story. From Agnes to the Territory via this forum. You’ve got my vote for best introductory post ever.

Thanks people. Seems a friendly community here, and from what I've been able to absorb so far it looks like it will be an excellent resource too.

I'm quite concerned I will end up spending far too much time here though :D

Great story Izzy. Great avatar name too. Must rate as one of the best introductions on the forum. Congrats on your excellent bargain.

*Sploosh*! And you jumped in the deep end. :D It sounds like a solid deal you've made. Sleep well. And welcome to the forum.

Great story, we also know there's at least one other Stinger in the NT, mind you from memory he's at Alice Springs. Enjoy the best car you'll own:D.

Thanks. Not sure if you mean one other on the forums or not but there wouldn’t a be huge number up here in Darwin. I reckon no more than half a dozen or so. I’ve only seen maybe 3 or 4 different ones in a couple years.

I’ve had a GTO Monaro and GTS Commodore in the past so it will be interesting to see how this stacks up against those 2 RWD beasts. From my brief test drive I’d suggest pretty well. Perhaps not as brutal but I suspect more refined.

You hit the nail on the head with the "Term" brutal. One of the old ducks from the dog group came around sporting a 2017 SS Commodore. It was tricked out in a Walkinshaw 407 set up. She let me drive it after she put me through the ringer. Brutal is all you need to know. Been to the Chiro to fix my neck and that is a true story.

Would love to do a cruise to NT but the closest I can get is 38,000ft @ around 480kts

Car finally arrived on Friday...

It’s friggen awesome. Crazy fast. And lovely to drive.

All was well with the freight company too, but the sneaky pricks that collected it marked every rim, the front and rear bumpers and both front door edges on the inspection report as damaged (basically every surface likely to be damaged in transit/loading/unloading). I nearly fainted when I saw it and then when it came up all clear the guy at the depot said “yeah, this happens a bit. We sometimes use 3rd parties for rural and remote pickups. They often do that to cover their arses just in case”. WTF?

Happy snap below

That behavior is very strange. I have never heard of "preconditioning" a contract like that. Sounds like you got lucky, since nothing happened to match their "expectations". Heh!o_O:cool:

"Wannabe test pilots can forget about contacting me; no one will test drive this car until your payment is safe and sound in my bank account. (Its only insured for me driving it). If you want to test drive one of these powerhouses, go and see a Kia dealer; and get a quote on a new one whilst you're there :)."

If I were in Australia, that would be a deal-breaker right there. Who in their right mind would buy a used car without test driving it unless it's a garage queen like a ZL-1 Corvette (only two made) or Vector W2 (only 20 made)?

"No test drives" usually translates to "I really fraked up this car big time" -- like 99.9999% of the time.

You took a huge risk buying that thing... I'm glad it worked out for you.

Great job getting that done and congratulations. Many safe years of happy motoring! My favorite color too.
