White is a challenge. So are any light colors. But black upholstery isn't easy either. Many contaminants end up spotting black just as much as dirt can off-color white. Trying to get dust out of black cracks is a chore. Arguably, light colored dirt smears onto black more noticeably than on white or light grey.
This is why I just ordered a pair of boar's hair brushes: so I can get into all the crevices and crannies where pale colored dirt and dust and debris collects: it might as well be lit up against that black background.
