Good Price for a Kia Stinger GT

Yuppers! :)

That is exactly my point. Focus on the difference in pricing from MSRP but also remember to factor in the cost of whatever location a person is in. Buying any normal economy vehicle, for example, will normally be more expensive in New York city or Beverly Hills than in some rural part of Virginia or Louisiana... but certain parts or even certain states seem to just upcharge regardless... things always seem to be more expensive "just because" even adjusted for tax rate in California and New York... probably since they are Socialist States lmfao!

Upstate NY has very competitive pricing [I know because I lived there most of my life]. You were correct about using zip codes, then forgot to apply that to your own line of thinking. I'm not familiar with CA's car markets, but assume rural areas as you explained would have lower sticker pricing due to lower incomes of that area.

Yes, both of those States are 'socialist' leaning. Thankfully for me, when I needed assistance through a hard time a few decades ago I lived where I did. Had that happened while I was living in "F$&# You" Nevada I would have been left to die in a proverbial economic culvert. I guess I'm saying that negative talk about socialism is unwarranted, the idea is to help others and in doing so help raise everyone's quality of life. We're all a bit pampered when it comes to social stability, because we've largely been sheltered from true instability for a long time. If society collapses, we're all screwed. Be happy someone out there cares for someone other than themselves.

My family came to the USA in the early 1990's after The Soviet Union collapsed. I have many friends who I met over the years who came from Venezuela, Cuba, Columbia, and other Eastern-European nations. My opinions and views on Socialism and Communism are probably a tad bit skewed.

Communism and socialism aren't the same thing, although they're often conflated.

In the context used, it was a negative connotation. Just not sure why that was volunteered in the context of the discussion.

What I meant, with the original context, was that California and New York tax people left and right. Between the highest property taxes in the country, extremely high State Income taxes combined with out of control Local Income taxes, and other insane taxes/fee's for owning a home or vehicle or whatever else... insane toll costs all over... it's out of control... The taxes are not proportionate at all... That's just my two cents... there is a reason why people have been fleeing California and New York (before COVID even became a thing) since it's out of control how the States nickel and dime you every single chance they get...

I'm not attacking anyone or putting anyone down though... I have lived in multiple states all along the East coast and have moved from Florida to New York about half a year ago... I'll drop it at that...

The prices of any vehicle (in general) is going to be far more expensive in California and New York (from my own experience) than in Florida... that is why I made sure to purchase and register my vehicle in Florida before I came to New York...

You might be surprised by the "tax free" not-so-free Nevada. Registration for a newish vehicle is $500+ yearly. My LaCrosse was $700-ish and the Stinger will be the same or more (I think more based on the prorated registration paperwork).

Whether they tax your income or hide the tax elsewhere, it's still a tax. It's likely to surprise you that California isn't even that tax-burdened (for individual citizens like me and you). Cost of living is much more complicated than just 'high taxes'. Tax Rates by State

I knew what your point was, as I explained I personally benefitted from living where there's a strong social safety net. I'm extremely grateful for it. However, as I also know from my experience in New York, large governments like any large company or institution can become corrupt, and the cost to do business inflates exponentially as more money grubbing hands get their share of the political pie. This is the result of greed though, not an inherent flaw in compassionate and empathetic use of government to help its citizens. The catch 22 is when it becomes heavily regulated, government slows to a crawl. So it's always a tradeoff of being flexible with allowing too many opportunities for cronyism in appointments and government contracts.

Well then, become a centrist. Hah. (This is a car forum, and so most members are not going into politics on here; the longer you keep interchanging on politics, the greater the likelihood of being turned OFF.)

Fair enough! I don't doubt that there is a lot of other information and variables out there that I need to discover and learn to better understand how these things work. I'll be the first to admit that I am still very young (mid/late 20's) and have so much room to grow.

But back to the topic on hand... yeah... some cars are cheaper in certain parts of the country! duh! :D

I appreciate you breaking down what you meant though! I never hesitate to own up to being wrong or misinformed or ignorant when I am. That's how people grow and improve. :)

lol idk if I am misinterpreting what you wrote but don't threaten to ban me because I made a comment about taxes and how cost of living will have an affect on the cost of a vehicle - but don't worry, I know you're just doing your think - I really don't care much for politics... I only was trying to say that, as an example, for me it was cheaper to get the Stinger (OTD Final Price) in South Florida than in Westchester County New York... and when I was breaking down the numbers that's just how it was...

P.S. - I had to look up "centrist" because I am an uneducated clown... I think I'm a centrist... if I am understanding the definition correctly? idk *shrug* :p

We got your point W! so now let's enjoy our rides and Happy Motoring everyone!

yep. Lease buyout.
Kia was offering better rebate on leases.
Kia’s lease agreement states able to buyout the lease at anytime without penalty, equal to the adjusted cap cost.

Wow!!!! I thought the one I found at a nearby dealer for $38K was a helluva deal????

Hey, where was this "level" of conversation on the "22MY Info thread"? Hat's off to you. I really did not mean for those comments to be taken as "personal" attacks.

That being said, here in KY, life is pretty "basic" when it comes to taxes and the likes. My short-lived experience with what you guys are referring to, came when I was in the Marine Corps and experienced those types of things when stationed in CA. Blew my mind that there was that big of a difference between one state and another????

Anyway, still can't wait for that 2.5 Stinger.:D

Thanks!!
Yes it was a lot of research, the lease buyout thread and the YouTube video helped a lot.
negotiations, it’s a hit or miss, finding a dealership willing to play ball.
They were only about $800 off from the dealer discount I’ve wanted. I’ve used TrueCar to find out their dealer discount and used that.
told them No on the dealer markup BS
No to the BS fees
During the trade-in discussion.... 1st person to give a number loses!! We basically sat there for 8-10 mins staring at each other, so I finally took two business card, we both wrote down a number for the trade in, then turned it over at the same time.
He went $2k, I went $3,100. After coming back from his manager, he went $2,400. I told him $2,750

Part of negotiations Is that you need to know how to talk their lingo.

I looked at doing this last year as well as well, 2020 GT1 AWD MSRP $47,900 (+ Illinois/Cook County Tax). The final buyout with payments put me at just under $38k for the car (and an awesome deal), but I balked. Ended up with my GTS for less, 4500 miles, windows tinted, wheels painted, all season shoes AND certified - she is missing a couple features from the GT1, but she gets looks like a Victoria Secret model everywhere I go.

Personally, I never out the door anything. I want to know what I'm paying for the car - the tax/title/license fees are all controlled by the city/county you reside in, and not part of the deal. Anything above and beyond is a dealer added fee which typically can be negotiated as part of the deal on the car.

I will say be careful they don't add back the destination fee, that's another $995 (or so) and many times they will advertise a price without it. Also the Military discount of $400 is another "add" they use to bring the advertised price down. Take the MSRP and subtract about $2k to get dealer invoice on the car, deduct your incentives, then negotiate.
