Glossy Black Stinger Lettering

Yeah, it would be really nice if there were other options besides chrome lettering in the forum store. I got mine a few months back from Importshark. I checked out their website just now and it looks like they don't have any products for Stingers anymore. I ended up getting a matte black one with clearcoat and the lead time was like 4 weeks. Not sure why it would take so long but it definitely took all 4 weeks for them to ship it to me. However, I like it a lot more than chrome.

Nevermind, I didn't see it earlier but Importshark does still sell Stinger stuff on their site.

Good job. I just got my rear KIA badge off with finishing line. Going to polish out some fine scratches on the trunk panel and then install my black badge I got from Importshark. How was your adhesive on the back of the badge? Mine is very thin and the parts on the edges of the badge (the ends of the S and R) are kind of non-sticky. Importshark responded to my question saying just to rub it with a little rubbing alcohol and itll be sticky again. I don't mine the thinness of the adhesive. In fact I'd prefer it to be as thin as possible just as long as it'll stay stuck.

Mine were like yours where they were a little thin but I just made sure I pushed it down firmly and I don’t see any issues with it.

I'm going to try and get a hold of these for the forum store. Did yours ship from South Korea? Trying to understand why it took so long to receive. I'd ship same day from Florida...

Also as far as shipping is concerned I think it takes a while from ImportShark because they do these custom and in batches is my guess. I’m assuming they either wait until they have enough orders and then do 10-15 at once so you either get lucky and they have them or you wait a bit until they make another batch. Either way, I think it was worth the wait as they look great.

I think the black looks awesome on light colored cars I wanted black for my red stinger but went with chrome since I wanted the E badge on the front. I felt the chrome matched better with the front E badge to look more uniform(but maybe that's just me lol)

I also did the Ebadges around the car as well but the Ebadge in the front has just as much black as chrome so I didn’t bother me to go black. I did wrap the front ebadge with black vinyl first for the same reason as you but after doing so, hated how it looked because it just looked like a giant black circle on the car (it loses all details). So I just put it on as it was and still went black for the back. To each their own but black on red does look great.

Yeah, some of the edges on mine were the same as yours and I was a tiny bit skeptical on whether the little amount of adhesive would make it stick well to the paint. I just made sure to clean the area really well with rubbing alcohol and like CKash said, pressed it down as firmly as I could until it set. I've had it on since December and so far so good. I hate to admit it, but until I started washing the car myself, I did run it through a machine was several times and the lettering has held up very well.

Took a chance and ordered the 3D printed version off ebay $16 shipped from S. Korea.

Took just about 2 week to arrive. Description and pictures on ebay weren't great but was glad to see it's 14"x1" and glossy so it matches the rear valance. Only issue is it's a little rough around the edges with plenty of burr remaining and it's thinner than OEM. Mounting tape is also super thin. I'll need to sand/shave burr, then most likely end up giving it a coat or two of glass black. Will post pics when installed.

make sure to spray clear coat over the color to protect it

That's a replica Stinger emblem. Not OEM. I'm not sure how much it really matters - but whoever sells that is making a killing considering it probably only costs them a few cents each piece...

You can tell right off the bat, on some of the closeup shots, that the finish and quality is nowhere near OEM. Not worth the cost savings.

That looks like it was plasti-dipped.

Sal, did I read somewhere that you’re going to be stocking the OEM Stinger emblems in gloss black as well as the chrome and carbon fibre? Or am I just just making that up.

I have the carbon fiber look here: OEM Kia Stinger Badge Chrome or Carbon Fiber - Kia Stinger dot com

...but I just went out of stock on them a minute ago. I have a batch on the way but U.S. Customs is heavily scrutinizing every package out of South Korea - so I could have them next week, or it could be two weeks - depending on how quickly my package passes through...

As for black, I'm looking into getting them as well... But they're not "on the way" just yet...

Ok thanks. I’ve also got one of the cheapie black emblems as shown above but I’m not in any hurry to fit it. I might wait for a bit and see what you come up with. Cheers.

Here's the final result after sanding down the burr, 3 coats satin black, and 2 clear coats. A bit more manual labor than I would have liked but I'm happy with the outcome.

Only issue I had was on the front Kia logo. A tiny fragment of paint came off with the badge. I was extremely surprised to see how thin of a coat of paint was laid down. Craziness but you get what you pay for.
I had the same issue with 1 little flake under the front Kia emblem..luckily its a plastic nose and the new emblem glue will seal it anyways.
