I want to let people know that in SoCal area, if you are looking for a kia, and in particular a Stinger than you need to check with Galpin first, specifically Michelle.

They DO NOT MARKUP there cars. You will get a fair price, a respectful buying process, and honesty. I've purchased previous cars from Galpin, and can say they were always on the level... if you are like me and have trouble finding the stinger you want, then you probably know how hard it is to find a decent dealership in our area. I know because I talked to most in SoCal, and my favorite experience was with them.

I feel it is important to reward the good dealers out there, and so far Galpin, Muncie, and Auburn Kia all had great people and deserve our business.

I couldn't agree more!!! :)

Thanks! I’m planning on visiting some Kia dealerships in SoCal! This’ll be one of the first. :)

Michelle is indeed a great asset to this dealership. We didn't end up buying our Stinger at Galpin simply because they didn't have the color/trim we wanted available and we got a bit impatient and found the one we wanted somewhere else but yes I confirm that our interaction with Michelle was outstanding.

Yep same boat, they didn't have the one I was looking for and they couldn't get it either; not through lack of effort on their part... it just didn't exist on the western half of this country.

They're great, but they shut down at the beginning of October, and now I "lost" my dealer...

This caught me by surprise! I called to schedule a service, and was told they would do "oil changes and tire rotations, and nothing more" at Galpin VW.

I live over by UCLA, and now the "closest" Kia dealers with service are Glendale and DTLA, which sucks for me. I can get oil & tire service at an indy near me I've been using for years, but any factory stuff (warranty work, recalls, software updates, etc.) I suppose has to be done by a Dealer.

I suppose all we can do is call/email corporate and hope they open a new dealer in WLA/Van Nuys area... any other ideas?

I bring my to their fastlane service. Any mechanic can service the car, but for manufacturer warranty it has to be done at a dealer. I also live by UCLA. I visited a couple of dealer last week. went to Glendale but it was shady, really shady. Then to Carson. That one is very big amd seems good, but sooo far away

I stopped by West Coast Tire (south of Olympic) who I have used in the past for our BMW and Audis. They say no problem for regular service, so I'll bring it in next week for the first (6 month) service as I'm getting the "X days to service" message now.

I have done my first at Galpin, but I don't think I will go back. I mean, according to the user manual, they should have changed the cabin airfilter too. I told them but the guy said that it s too early. Probably is right, but since I am leasing, I think I should respect what the manual says. Also, I didnt feel too good having somebody that by their own admission do not know the car at all, doing service on it. I think I'll drive farther and go to a different kia dealer. The one in Carson is huge and I believe they re pretty good. I also heard very good things about that one in Simi Valley. But downtown or glendale are both no go for me.

Please let us know how it goes at Carson, or where ever you decide to go. None of the current dealers are in a great location for me. Getting a regular service at a dealer will be a half day with drive time, so my plan is to use a local indy, West Coast Tire. I ordered 6 oil filter kits from hyundaipartsdeal.com so I have OEM filters. In my eyes, oil is oil, so long as one uses a good quality brand (Mobile, Castrol, Valvoline, etc.)

Fingers now crossed there won't be any recalls or warranty work needed on the next 2.5 years (when my lease runs out) or Kia opens a new dealer in Westwood/Santa Monica/Bev Hills area...

We live in the same area, so I do understand your concern. I think there is going to be a recall in a few days. I was reading somewhere that there is a potential fire hazard with a wire beside the engine, snd the recall will install a cover for this wire. I read that last month. The post said that the recall will start around the 20th of this month, so let's see. Apart that I think it might worth the half day travel as having someone that actually knows the car putting his hands on, would make me feel better. just plan a few hours activity while waiting for the car to be service. Just beside the Carson dealer there is a go-kart track. I could easily spend a couple of hours there waiting for the car to be ready, or don't know, go to a cinema. Unfortunately Galpin didn't tell us anything. I got my car in June and they closed in October, so I am pretty sure they knew about this back when I was there, they should have said it.

I don't know anything about this dealership, but when this kind of thing happens, the last thing management wants is for employees to lose motivation, tip-off customers who might just go elsewhere, or start leaving for other jobs. It would probably have been a last minute thing for everyone except the most senior people who were then expected to "soften the blow"..

I purchased my Stinger from Galpin last August. I called them regarding service (I also had a free oil change) and they told me their Galpin Mazda dealership were handling all Kias now. However I would recommend you stay as far away as possible after my experience a few days ago. Dropped off at 1:30pm for its first service, after two hours I was told 5 more minutes, after another 30 minutes the service advisor asked my why i hadn't got my car yet and 30 minutes later he came back to tell me that another customer HAD TAKEN MY CAR!!! Some kid in his 20's who dropped off his old White Mazda 5 somehow did the paperwork, was handed my key, got to my car, drove to the exit, the security guard who scans the VIN and cross checks it opens the gate and off he goes. After several phone calls from the dealership, nearly two hours and 67 miles of joyriding he returns. At this point I'm obviously PISSED! Apparently he didnt notice the difference between an old white Mazda 5 and a 2018 Silver Stinger!!! I'm checking the car inside and out and next thing I see him drive away in his car, the service manager just let him go. He then had the balls to tell me "obviously we'll give you a full tank of gas to make things right".....WTF? Needless to say this isn't over. I've not heard great things about Glendale or Downtown but needless to say I won't be going back to Galpin.

Very sorry to hear that, and a bit shocked. That is insane. I went to Galpin Mazda for a oil change service and I will not go back. I told the guy what the manual require to be done each service (cabin air filter replacement) and he specifically said they won't change it as too early. Then he said they don't know the car and they'll figure out something. STAY AWAY FROM THEM. they have no clue. they don't know the car. Glendale (to me) looked very shady so does downtown. Carson is a huge dealer. they seem the right choice. they re a bit far away, but beside them there s a go kart track. so you could have some fun while waiting. Then Simi valley. I read good things and when I spoke on the phone with them, they seemed ok. But it's a small dealer. I'll check it out soon, to see. Then I'll make a decision as my next service is coming up

That cabin air filter replacement is very suspect. I pulled mine out at 6,000 miles and it looks just fine. The cabin air filter replacement interval in the manual for my 2008 Pontiac G8 GT was 100,000 miles. Go figure .....
