Funny license plates.

Owner saw me taking a pic, said he's working on mods to get 800hp....supercharger, tail shift, diff, etc. Also said he should have bought a Stinger due to fuel consumption.

He can't be too worried about fuel consumption if he is pushing for 800hp. They would be worthy plates if he had that much HP.

All the mods in the world won’t overcome the pitiful 3 star ANCAP safety rating and the fact that it’s a Ford :p

I was reading the 3 star safety rating has to do with the fact it is a 2 door sports car and the back seat area is a death trap if T-boned. All other safety was above board is what i read into it.

It’s still a Ford :p
I've enjoyed my Ford for 32 years (208K miles). The Fox is a very lively platform with 300 ft. lbs. of torque and a 5-speed in a 3100 lb. package. It's just a blast to drive. The Honda is a reliable, but not thrilling, performer. Of course, the new Mustang GT will eat my RYC RKT's ramen any day of the week (GT2 AWD), but I didn't buy the Stinger for stoplight bragging rights. I wanted a 4 door version of my '89 Mustang GT hatchback with AWD and all the modern goodies to spoil me on long trips in all kinds of weather- something the new Mustang couldn't do as well. The worst thing you can say about the Mustang is everybody has one. There's a good reason for that. Unfortunately, Mustangs will be kicking ass long after the Stinger is just a sweet, distant memory- because Kia can't figure out the marketing and performance to keep it relevant and competitive. ;)

If it were a choice between your Honda lawn mower and Ford I'd take the mower...JK.

Did you tell him, it's not to late to trade in for a Stinger ?

So the thing is in this country for most of us you were either a Holden man or a Ford man, and I fell into the category of the former right up until they stopped production of their longest running best performing car and decided to import shitty European Opels and brand them Commodore, and then send millions of dollars of taxpayer funded subsidies back to their GM overlords in Detroit and shut down all production in Australia before eventually ceasing the Holden brand all together. Subsidies that were handed over by the morons in government with the intent of keeping local manufacturing going. The Holden brand died a slow and painful death in Australia but that’s still not enough to turn me to Ford.

That being said there are aspects of the Mustang that I really like, but I’d never buy one, similarly since GM released the Camaro in Australia there are aspects of it that I love too but again I wouldn’t buy one. At least Ford make the Mustang in RHD direct from the factory unlike the Camaro which is only LHD and then stripped to the bone and converted once onshore adding thousands to the price.

I wouldn’t compare either of them to the Stinger, it’s apples and oranges, the Stinger has a lot of features that leave them for dead but there are other things that are better on the other two. I agree with you 100% Kia have stuffed the marketing of the Stinger badly and yes the Mustang will probably live on long after the Stinger is gone but to be fair the Mustang survives to a degree now off the back of decades of branding and nostalgia something the Stinger doesn’t have and probably won’t based on the way Kia have screwed the pooch with their marketing.

When I was a kid I was strictly a Ford guy. The Mustang came out when I was twelve years old and living in Southern California during the Golden Age. The Ford/Ferrari wars was very cool to this high school kid, who looked up to Ferrari as the pinnacle of racing. My Fox body brought the Mustang out of a deep sleep in the 70's/80's, and believe it or not, it was widely hailed as a bang for the buck king in its day. You say the Mustang is living off its history, but that belies the fact Ford keeps improving it and developing high performance models- hardly living on its laurels. It took the Stinger to steer me away from a new Mustang GT 350 in 2018. The Harper Ford/Kia dealer in Eureka (they've been around over 100 years) had nice examples of both. I was impressed enough with Kia to change things up. My friends were shocked. I live in a small town of 6,200 people and everyone knows my Mustang. But I grew out of being an absolutist a long, long time ago. I have friends who have very cool hot rods of several makes/models and I appreciate the qualities of all of them. My research and desire for more than the ubiquitous Mustang moved me in Kia's direction. I like its style, too.

DRAGFAN (on a Kia Optima with a spoiler; it was very clean, so, they like their car; but, "drag race" in a FWD?:))

Maybe not that Optima...but 7 seconds fast enough? Besides, if any car can be called a dragster, it would seem FWD fits the bill. Literally speaking.1612394600544.webp

Good point! I hadn't thought of that. :D I'm just used to seeing smoking rear slicks. Hah. :D

Maybe its not "that" kind of drag they like....
And yet another way of seeing this that didn't occur to me. I almost never see funny license plates. This one is starting to get a lot of "mileage". Hah.

Anyone who is into the kind of drag that seems to excite you wouldn't be caught dead in a Kia Optima.
