I know there’s lots of talk about the merits of a Fumoto. I’m wondering though if anyone has tried the f316l version? I’m assuming the 22 3.3 is the same as the 21. In has the elbow nipple/pointed down on this version. Any problems with it hitting the cross bar? No need for an adapter to extend it away from the pan? F316L - Elbow Joint Oil Drain Valve 14mm-1.5 | FUMOTO

I've had the F106SX on mine for 2yrs with no issues.

I used the other brand, and I did NEED the adapter in order to extend it away from the pan.

Details and images in the threads linked below

Also - quick access cover - for convenience.

Access hole is brilliant and low tech. I was thinking of cutting a hole, using some overlapping donor plastic and drilling 3 or 4 holes for pop clips. I def don’t want to be pulling that whole thing off every time. I dunno, adding up the cost of the valve and effort I wonder if it’s just the better choice to buy the pump (mityvac or firstinfo) which I can then use on other cars and presumably other fluids (coolant, etc).

Been using the F106SX for 3 years, no problem. No need for adapters either.

Before you go with a drain valve and cut up your liner, consider a fluid extractor.

I have a Mityvac 7400 and use it on all of my vehicles. No mess and then all you have to remove is the filter which already has an access hole.

that's the Japanese gal John Lennon married right ?

I was looking at this option also but I "think" that the end of the downward facing fitting would be too close to the under tray.

Length wise it might be tight with the cross member but if you do have a try and it works, report back please.

Will do. On order now. I purchased direct from Fumoto in the event it doesn’t (too long and hits cross bar) fit I’m certain their customer service will ’make it right’ and send the sx or something else. Their site lists it as an option for the stinger so I’m not exactly going off label. Purchased the recommended 1/2 inch extender with it.

I do have it on my wish list. It’s running at $170ish on Amazon.ca now. Surprisingly the model that pumps both ways is a bit cheaper? Seems like an upgrade? Third option is good ole princess auto (harbor freight for the US folks) that takes anything back any time. Prob not as high quality but the regular $120 for their version is sure to go on sale like everything else they have …

I paid $120 on Amazon pre-pandemic but everything is more expensive now. I’m sure the Princess Auto one is fine. The only concern I’d have is the quality of the hoses. Wouldn’t want it to snap inside the dipstick tube.

@Andy B and @HDTurbo f106sx without the 1/2 inch adapter? I like how the f106sx swivels. Assuming a hose can still fit on the smaller nipple.
Yes. And right size hose for the application should be available. Haven’t had the need, yet.

going through some older pics....Found these.

There is loads of room between the drain plug and cross-member.
